I dislike my name and don't think it's at all sexy. So yes, names can hold a connotation of sexy or not.

Names can also hold memories of old acquaintances and add positive or negative thoughts sometimes.

Amber, Lola ,Davina ,Charlie are some that tend to make me think someone will be hot.

Mary, Brigid, Sharon are ones that make me think not (although I have been very wrong)

For men, Sam and Ben are two that come to mind as hot.

Seán, Martin, Derek make me think not.

Think of most names and I bet you can come up with examples of someone 'hot' and someone 'not' - so I don't put too much faith in a name as a gauge of any perceived hotness.

It's sometimes a shock to the system when you meet someone from Fab in person and discover their real name as its easy to build a mental picture of them in your head and attribute a moniker in advance, just based on your own preconceived notions.

We don't get to choose what our parents have lumped us with, unless you're one of the few who go down the 'deed poll' route to change it.

And how many on Fab have their real name on show anyway? Pseudonyms, alternative identities and nicknames are par for the course and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

Much depends on individual associations and experiences with people of a certain name. This would include whatever is popular, stereotypes, celebrities etc.

I have quite an old fashioned name that most people might associate with a mad aunt or someone in their 80s. While the mad aunt bit might be right, I like to change people's perception.

I must be attracted to a certain name! It’s very very odd. 2 of the 4 men I’ve met on here have the same name. Which is the same name as my brother, my husband and my only other serious relationship years ago. I met someone new the other day for a drink and couldn’t believe when we asked names that same name came out of his mouth!
