Would you take your shoes back after 6 months!

Am I being unreasonable and tight? I feel like maybe I am but what do you think?

I bought a pair of Converse in January, less than six months ago. I maybe wear them once or twice a week.

I've noticed the heel has always been uncomfortable on them, but today it completely snapped and now there's like plastic/hard farbic or whatever it is that keeps the shoe shape poking out making them very painful and pretty much, unwearable. I paid like 90 euro for these shoes.

Am I being a bit of a fucker for considering going to the store to see if they can exchange them?

I dunno, I don't expect them to last a lifetime. But I am so annoyed they've broken, especially when they cost so much money and were a big treat to myself. If it was a shitty pair of shoes then fine, but these are special. *sobs*

What would you do?

I've never had shoes that have failed so quickly so don't have experience of doing so.

But do it. They really should be lasting much longer than that.

I think the store would have no responsibility after 6 months. I believe you'd need to go to the manufacturer. I could be wrong though.

I’d go and try and exchange them and then take to social media too to try and embarrass them. It’s the only way to get what you want these days.

I'd try taking them back, they're Converse like you said not a chep pair, they should last longer than 6 months, but not sure if they will exchange them after 6 months tbh.

I had an issue with ecco boots I went back 10 weeks the shop tried to fob me off I had to persist. Ecco didn't fight me though, they acknowledged it was a manufacturing fault

Had a pair of trainers about a week and the sole fell off after kicking a football. I thought you couldn't get refunds once worn outside but was just gutted anyway, so threw them in the bin and never bought the brand again.

Take them back. You are entitled (in law) to expect an item be fit for purpose. Faults happen.

Ecco were great not had a pair in years, my last ones lasted me around 10 yrs

Schuh are pretty good though I think 6 months does seem like a long time for them to get involved, you may be better off getting in touch with converse directly, anything is worth a try and you have nothing to lose.

I will! I'm gonna be a strong independent woman ask them to look at my shoe.

I'm gutted because they don't have stock of the Converse I have anymore and I can't find them anywhere online so if they do offer to exchange I'll have to find another pair and none are as pretty.

I threw mine out as I was having a tidy up but they were still capable to muck around in - the amount of walking I did in them was unbelievable.

I would say I do a good 10,000 at minimum most times I've worn them. But that's just on standard pavement not in the rain/beach/muddy fields etc.

I'll take them to Schuh and see what they say but I've got a bad feeling they won't be willing to replace them since it has been so long. If they won't help me I'll contact Converse and keep my fingers crossed.

I looked them up the yesterday and couldn't get on their site. Some kind of 501 error gateway message kept coming up. I think they are still trading but was only able to find any through independent stores - they do a few leather sneaker type trainers, all the others seemed to be gortex boots and no inbetween

Your contract is with the store where you purchased them so they should deal with the issue for you.

If you are looking for a replacement pair then this should be straightforward, if they have a suitable pair available.

I’ve had similar problems when spending 195 on some shoes after 6 months I took them back

And told them I had lost the receipt I’ve had them

Nearly 3 months and look at them, I got a new pair off them !!!

I’d definitely return them to converse, contact them via twitter or Facebook you will get instant help , they will ask for photos and then arrange the return.

I do this quite a lot with premium brands, they don’t want negative feedback , it’s far cheaper to be nice to you

This isn’t true.

Consumer rights specify no time limits and unless you’re going to take them to court the merchant doesn’t have to do anything.

After the merchants returns policy expires, high end brands, far easier to deal with the brand direct

Being me, I'd probably bin them and not buy them again, as I'm lazy.

But, you're you, so I will say speak directly to the makers via email and explain what has happened.

They should last much longer than 6 months, with that amount of wear.

My daughter lives in hers and they last much longer than 6 months without breaking.

You may find they replace them or send a prepaid card without and quibble.

1. The shop isn't any longer responsible BUT most would exchange or refund cos they don't want the hassle or bad publicity and the biggest BUT is you've nothing to lose so ..... take them back.

If they say that the manufacturer is at fault ( they are right but ......) politely use the line.... Perhaps but I bought them from you and feel that you could deal with the manufacturer.

Just take them back cos if you don't then you wont get a new pair but if you do then you might get a new pair.

Off you go ....... go on ...... take em back.

Take them back OP, the should last a good few years.

In my mind, you return them, the manufacturer investigates the fault and if they are at fault, they rectify the issue and we all get better shoes. In reality, you get your money back and your shoes go in the bin.
