I’m having a frugal week after partying too darn hard the last few weeks (albeit it being very fun!)

So soup for lunch and no alcohol.

What are your other tips for cash saving during the week?

What would be good dates/friend hang out things to do that don’t cost too?

I need to learn how to do this

I'm poor because I over spend on needless things

It’s a needs must eventuality this week, I’m horrific at not impulsively spaffing my money in the name of instant gratification and fun with my people!

Tap water to drink. Go to the library. Most museums and art galleries are free or minimal donation. Will try to think of more

It's nice long evenings, so instead of going to a restaurant for a date, take a picnic to the park. Or just chill in the back garden with a friend.

Instead of watching the latest movie at the cinema, watch the sunset with your favourite trans woman. That movie will come on the telly in 3 to 5 years anyway.

Take up dogging! It's fun and it's free. But remember that you will need a DoggingBlanket™®©.

Spend your time doing something free, parks or whatever but don’t get lured into a £4 coffee either.

Basically, be in places where it’s hard to spend money.

I feel your pain, payday seems to have been 6 weeks ago at least

Oh there are so many lovely things.

Check out free exhibitions, have a movie marathon with vaguely themed food to go alongside it, a picnic in the park. Walk in a cemetery. You could go to a library and look at rare manuscripts and find the other person a book they'd love. There are soft launches at some amazing restaurants sometimes (definitely down there!). Comedy gigs can often be found for free or very little (so low rather than no spend). Have a pamper night with the other person, make homemade masks and long massages. Go foraging for elderflower.

Leave any cards at home, take out enough money in case of emergency but don't make any impulse purchases.

If it’s an available option stay at work longer, earn more and no time to go out and spend. Boring I know but effective haha

Join “too good to go” and “olio” for random low cost and no cost food things. Could invite friends over and have a mystery pot luck supper party.

I’ve started playing Pokémon go so that I walk a bit more with purpose. It’s free as long as you don’t get lured into buying things within the game.

Rather than being frugal, maybe look for alternative revenue streams? I’ve been told by female Fab friends that used underwear and shoes are always popular or take up that random guy’s offer of money for sex*

The kids are entertained for hours at the beach collecting rocks. Free, and then when we're home they spend ages washing them and placing them in just the right spot in their room.

To be honest, I secretly enjoy searching for "unique" rocks too

I had to live in a self imposed lockdown before lockdown ever existed to save for a house deposit. I ate once a day and didn't go out, only for walks but that was pretty much it. That was extreme perhaps and I lost friends over it. That being said it is what needed to be done to but property on your own in London so I don't regret it.

Once you live very frugally it's actually really hard to come out of it.

Host a tea party in the park. People always bring too much stuff so take it all home - that’s lunch and dinner for the week.

Or just make more money. Have you thought about becoming a pimp? If the industry bothers you, you could be an ethical pimp. Somehow.

I took Erect Jim to The Wallace Collection in Mayfair the other day. It was free in cost but the edification was priceless. Followed by a 'credit-crunch' sandwich, bottle of squash and a single-shot cappuccino of questionable fairtrade origin.

I could easily get used to these Shrewsbury-esque prices.

I cook enough 2 dinners on Monday evenings. Fridge one for next day. Saves energy and time.

"I cook enough 2 dinners on Monday evenings. Fridge one for next day. Saves energy and time."

When single, I did similar.

I'd spend a week cooking an evening meal each night, and freezing half. Then the next week would be just reheating.

That saved me some money and time.

A good friends hang out thing that's free to do is sit in a park or somewhere nice and people watch, take it turns to make up outrageous back stories for the people walking towards you, the crazier the better, see if you can say hi to them as they pass without giggling about the made up things you've said they've done.
