How 'analogue' are you?

Cheeseville, Somerset

In this modern age of technology we're there's a machine, gadget, app or online tool for anything and everything - how 'old school' do you go?

Does your watch still have pointy arrows instead of just numbers?

Do you still have to get off your lazy arse to turn the lights on/off or do you get Alexa to do it for you?

Is your diary online or do you still write things in a book?

Do you source your porn from off the shelf jazz mags or rely on t'internet?

Vinyl or Spotify?

VHS or Netflix?

Books made from trees or a kindle?

DIY wank or automated blowjob machine?

Dyson bladless fan or minimum wage flunky fanning you with an ostrich feather?

Basically - are you down with the kids and modern or a bit of a dinosaur?

A

Does your watch still have pointy arrows instead of just numbers? - Analogue watch, don't possess a digital or smart one, but don't wear a watch usually because it gets caught in my wheelchair wheels. I check the time on my phone.

Do you still have to get off your lazy arse to turn the lights on/off or do you get Alexa to do it for you?

Old fashioned light switches throughout, no smart home equipment, Alexa etc.

Is your diary online or do you still write things in a book?

My schedule is on Google Calendar or Outlook calendar.

Do you source your porn from off the shelf jazz mags or rely on t'internet?

T'internet

Vinyl or Spotify?

Neither.

VHS or Netflix?

Neither

Books made from trees or a kindle?

Tree books

DIY wank or automated blowjob machine?

Dyson bladless fan or minimum wage flunky fanning you with an ostrich feather?

I was fanning myself yesterday with a traditional Spanish fan. The sort that folds out and is used in flamenco. We don't have any mechanical fans or air con.

Basically - are you down with the kids and modern or a bit of a dinosaur?

I like to embrace tech but only the best tech and where it helps me achieve what’s important to me.

My calendar is fully online it’s critical to relationships , mental well-being & business that I see what’s coming & block out quality time.

I don’t need a smart house and I like to move regularly and touch things.

Spotify mostly, Amazon Prime & Occasional DVD for old classics

Real Books, it’s pleasing and they smell and feel good.

Top of the range AC & Chiller but I don’t use all the features it’s just on or off

maybe 70/30. I'm a bit techy so my home is semi smart. No alexa though.

I have a digital music and movie library can play in different rooms. 98% of my books are digital, the remainder are sentimental.

I'll always have cash handy for the zombie apocalypse. But contactless is how I roll. Reminders are on my phone.

I'll still write the occasional letter.

Internet is for everything, work rest and play. My preferred device is still a PC though. My watch does everything, messages, fitness tracker. Can even control playback of music and movies, real star trek stuff. I've an led strip somewhere that I want to hook up to a motion detector so I run it in the hall

Still want to have the sex with other humans, that's analogue I think.

We still watch DVDs sometimes.

We have a clock radio by the side of the bed.

When we sit in a pub or restaurant we do this thing called talking to each other.

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

99% analogue.Interweb mobile only for work(and fab/kik).

Still write things down because writing doesn't crash, freeze, get hacked, get a virus or some other screw up.

Put some coins(remember them?) in a parking meter the other day and got a ticket within seconds, then watched someone piss about trying to pay with their phone for nearly five minutes at the same time someone else was pissing about with theirs trying to charge a car.

Got served faster at the supermarket at a manned checkout than someone with less stuff at a self scan.

I can find what I want in one of my reference books faster than looking on the net.

I’m both…

Despite having Apple Music (great in the car) I’m about to get my Naim and Arcam hi fi up and running again, and resume buying CDs, though being more discerning.

With the exception of photo books, and ones retained for sentimental reasons, is ebooks all the way.

Despite having a very digital life, and a very complete digital photography setup, I’m slowly returning to analog photography (medium format B&W) with digital being for professional or colour work.

Cars? One of each. The automated electronic wizardry of the daily driver, with a simple, manual drop top for play time.

Waiting on a few key things before the house is totally automated… lights, blinds, etc.

But for sex and cooking… manual and analogue all the way.

I would love to say primarily analogue but in today's world it is extremely hard.

I do have normal dial watch, collect vinyl and do not have any subscription to a digital music platform.

I don't have an Alexa thing to turn my lights off or a fridge to tell me when I am running low and I can't turn my heating on remotely. Also have a diary for work which I studiously write in and a calendar in the kitchen which is heavily annotated.

But I have Netlix etc.. and have a smart phone, which in turn I do banking, shopping with etc..

I'm a bit of a dinosaur as I'm rather technologically challenged.

Do have a Kindle with 200+ unread books on it, as I prefer to hold and smell the real thing.

That said I wouldn't be without my phone, blue tooth headphones and tablet even if I dont know how to use them very well

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

Mostly dinosaur. I am wearing a smartwatch, but the dial is set to pointy fingers. My other watch is made of wood, except the movement. I don't have streaming services, and my telly only has Freeview. I have a few vinyl albums, but I do have about 2,000 CDs. I don't keep a diary, but also I don't use an online calendar except for work. Everything else is in my head. I prefer to use my laptop for internet stuff, though I'm writing this on my smartphone. I have tree books only.

Oh dear, using your list as a guide OP, I am the epitome of a dinosaur.

Haven’t had a watch since it got nicked in secondary school.

Don’t have an Alexa so turn everything on/off at the switch.

Have an A4 size diary that I write all my stuff in.

Much prefer erotic literature to actual porn.

Don’t have spotty anything thank you very much.

Like to play my vinyl on my 1970’s music centre.

Don’t have a Kindle.

DIY wank, I alternate hands so I don’t end up with one bicep bigger than the other

I have a bladless fan but that’s only cause my belt got caught in it and broke them.

Am I a lost cause OP?
