Without a doubt Korean entertainment is becoming more universally popular, so here's a thread to discuss it, and hopefully add recommendations. If not, I could just talk to myself until space runs out

Cloud 8

I’m enjoying their little renaissance. What was that ‘100’ series on Netflix with the fitties? Dubbing was awful but a nice bit of light entertainment. Couldn’t get over how respectful they are to each other compared to the c***s in all other reality tv

Oh the fitness programme? That's one thing I haven't actually watched, but I'm pretty sure that I read that it's getting a second series

I like the dramas as unlike British ones you don't get to the end of it feeling like you've been in a boxing match, if anything I find them quite often very relaxing.

Does Pachinko meet your definition of Korean TV? It is, sort of imo. Anyway I really liked it.

Well sounds like it's a bit of a Korean, Japanese and American mixture, I had to Google it. It sounds awesome and exactly what I mean yes

"Parasite. "

I do need to watch that, just waiting for it to eventually come on to Netflix.

I never realised how stunning South Korea is until I actually started paying proper attention. I would go there, but real life doesn't come with subtitles.

Perpignan and cap

I saw a Korean monster movie where the leading actress was an archer. I can't remember the film but it was bloody good.

Absolutely love them

The series Good Dr. (Original) was wonderful. Mr Queen, so funny. Sad one about a 70 year old man wanting to be a ballet dance, loved it and many more.

Gamzamidah. (Thank you)

Oh I haven't seen those two yet, will probably get round to Mr Queen eventually, but the ballet one, I do like Song Kang the younger guy in it but I'm not sure it's my cup of tea.

Have you seen Alchemy of Souls yet? I love some of the sci fi series, I watched one called Tomorrow, which surprisingly left me highly emotional more than once.

I've got a whole list to watch yet. Also love the jolean period. There was a wonderful one where an alien comes to earth and gets involved with a spoilt actress, but I can't remember the name. Some of the series have many episodes. I also prefer to watch and listen in the original language with English subtitles. I get the emotions better.

I do tend to agree there, I've watched attorney woo with subtitles and also dubbing and it does lose a bit of the effect when dubbed.

There is a lovely joseon backstory in Tomorrow, but it's a very small part, I think it likes to cover all bases. I did find it quite educational though

Ohhhh! Yes. I love love love Korean films and TV shows but it tends to be horror - like Train to Busan, The Host, Dumplings. Love Park Chan Wook films in general.

Actually, I really enjoyed Parasite. Is that a bit clichéd? Maybe.

I watched the host many years ago but never actually realised it was Korean.

I love train to Busan, so bought the box set, the second one is worth a watch but missing the best actors.

Alive is quite a good Korean zombie movie for the social media age.
