Growing up in London travel was free. Then in Loughborough everywhere was walking distance. Now, well it is still so much cheaper not to drive so I don’t.

I can’t drive. I’ve done so many lessons, I even done some in an automatic to see if that would make any difference but I’m just useless at it. I think it’s for the best that I’m not on the road

Full Motorcycle licence when I was 24 however car not till my 40’s. Still prefer a bike over a car.

Took twice for motorbike, I pulled out on a car (as I usually did when riding around normally) a bit too close for the examiner. Easily passed the second time.

Four times for my car (I didn’t have to do the theory as I had a bike licence) test, I’d say I’m a below average driver but above average biker.

4 day intensive course in Army for car. 1st time pass.

H license tracks 1st time pass.

Hgv 2, 20 hrs intensive 4 days, 1st time pass.

.. Though what i passed isnt ever so relevant today when you need dodging pot holes, scooters, cyclists, ebikes... Lez zones.. Bus lanes, bike lanes, pop up roadworks, smart lanes or you get fined for driving something somewhere you shouldn't... Performing a 3 point turn using forward and reverse gears or a hill start seem barely relevant

17 - first time pass. In those days the ‘theory’ test was about 20 questions asked by the examiner at the end of the driving part of the year while still sat in the car.

I got the last question wrong and thought I’d screwed up the whole thing but he then said “I’m delighted to say you’ve passed” ..

Then I drove to school on my own in the car for the very first time which was mildly terrifying

19. Purchased a motorbike, realised when it rolled onto my drive that I've had no lessons or done Theory, block booked and passed in 6 weeks first time for both. That incentive really helped.

Bike licence first. Car came later, third time lucky. I was nervous and didn't gel with my instructor.

When you live where there is transport infrastructure, learning to drive isn't as important.

I was in my 30’s before I decided I needed a car.

I moved to Yorkshire and it kind of became a necessity and my ex wife was pregnant with our son so I felt the need.

Driving makes you lazy…I would think nothing of walking to the shop 10 mins down the road now I’ll go by car.

I passed both tests first time.

23, I was eight weeks pregnant with my second child.

Failed first go on each test and passed on the second.

First driving test I use instructors car and had an examiner with the same name as me. I failed.

Second driving test I did in my then boyfriends 2L mondeo that I had been learning in. Passed, found out when I got out if the car I had the chief examiner and my boyfriend expected me to fail. I loved that Mondeo.

Didn't drive for a year and then did a ski season, first time driving after my test was in a blizzard on a hairpin alps road. Deep end and all.

I'm almost 30 and can't drive. I'm saving atm and going to give it a bash next year. I'm honestly terrified and super anxious. I can't imagine myself behind a wheel at all. I doubt it will go well.

I was 29 when I passed my driving test.

I decided I didn't want to keep relying on lifts to competitions and needed to be driving before I hit 30.

I had a couple of months of once a week lessons and passed first time with 2 minors.

One minor was going around a huge pot hole in a back street road without indicating, even though there was nothing else on the road and no pedestrians.

UK licence I think I was in my late 20’s

I held driving licences in 3 other countries prior, none were transferable to UK so I had to take tests again.

Back in the days you only did test s and lorries were 20 mph

bike and car on birthdays been driving on farm since was 8 heavy Lorries you had to be 21 but as went in the R A F could drive them when 18 and coaches All first time and still got a DE and CE

I started driving at 13, my dad got fed up of me asking... and passed at 17 on the third attempt. I was terrified on the first one and can barely remember it, believe I was R*bbed on the second, so by the third was chilled

There was no such thing as a theory test back then.

I enjoy driving and love driving new vehicles when I get the chance.

My dad taught me to drive at 13. Got my first permit at 16.

Having said that, it took my brain 5 whole years to actually switch to driving on the left here in the UK… it is completely natural to me now. I passed the theory 3rd time

and practical first time.
