Lighting always helps and not always just lots of flat lighting but lighting that can help create shadows can help to accentuate features

Someone for everyone, some meet to make friends, some meet to be social and some meet for sex but either way how will you know until you meet?

I am not those people.

I think some people just have an eye for these things and patience.

When you're limited to selfies it can be tricky and often a good photo is luck!

My face is not photogenic I genuinely look like shit in my own pictures. I cannot be arsed taking them it learning about angles or filters or lighting. Too lazy.

I love getting others to take pics of me they have a better chance of turning out good

Set up a tripod and timer, find a good background and experiment with lightning (move lamps, turn lights off, use curtains to control light) and then when you are happy, use the screen to find a flattering pose - take a few photos.

Simple things you can do to edit would be cropping them, adjusting the brightness, contrast, saturation, shadows + highlights - these are just enhancements, your base photo needs to be reasonable... Move your triood, change the light to see if you can improve it

I think for the majority it’s a combination of practice and luck.

If you take enough, you’re bound to be lucky and get 1 decent ish one

Here's a trick, go look out the window, take a selfie. raise your chin slightly Do you notice any difference.

It's a little difference but facing a diffused light makes a difference .

And smile

I think you have an eye. Like everything else, practice makes a difference. A mini tripod or phone holder with suction cup is good. That lovely mr bezos will sell you a bluetooth remote camera shutter.

Body shots I think I'm ok at. But face pics...no I'm not photogenic and no amount of the right lighting is going to help.

I don't use filters unless it's the black and white one, and I crop to frame mine. But that's it other than a background but I didn't actually do that, a man on here that one known for years did. He probably owns the largest photo collection of me.

If lighting didn't make a difference, then studio photography wouldn't be a thing. Lighting make all the difference. And for face pics angles do to, we all have a 'better side' if not a 'good side'

Mine doesn’t, he always manages to catch me at the most unflattering angles when I’ve got 5 chins going on or something. I know I’m a fat girl but he manages to make me look like a hippocrocadillapig. That being said I don’t think I photograph well anyway lol

They probably take more than one picture, then use the best, possibly edit it to enhance the photo.

I take several, the just crop the picture, as I can't edit them too well.

I need to do more but don't really like....well me lol.

Most will take loads of pics and choose the best, some add filters to soften aspects. Angles make a difference as well, angles can make pictures so much better!!

Lighting, the room etc all make a difference.

Patience is required for great pictures, something I need to remember lol

Lighting is the biggest thing then cropping to suit the situation or focus on the subject.

Changing the lighting filter can make a normal pic into something much more too.

I think keeping it simple and good lighting makes a huge difference when it comes to your photos looking professional. And I can not deny that the six hours I spend afterwards editing every detail to ensure I've got my hourglass shape and fat ass definitely help too.

If the bathroom light works for you, thats great. I always found it very harsh but I suppose an colour edit helps.

I always found diffused lighting helps. Facing the light source works I think Hence the ring lights that youtubers and gram people love

I also have one of those ring lights but found the halogen bulbs to be just as good. Definitely far better than the council bulbs in the rest of the house anyway

I'm pretty sure my pics aren't great, but I don't use filters or editing (other than b&w or mood filters). I'd rather not put up misleading pics of what I look like. I sometimes think a nice photo shoot would be fun.
