Going nuts over a nut...

Do people really go nuts over a nut?

This time of year there just seems to be shelf after shelf of them in the supermarkets.

Does a brazil send you bonkers?

Does a cashew get you crazy?

Does a macadamia drive you mad?

Or is it a good ol' peanut which pushes you over the edge?

Which nut does it for you?

I love all nuts..... some more than others. New nuts are a must for me and a great prezzie ..... HOWEVER ... I cannot get enough of pine nuts. I first met pine nuts many years ago in Malta ..... funnily enough in an Italian restaurant. I got addicted to pesto n pine nut tagglywhatsit..... I buy pine nuts when I see them in the supermarket. I kid myself that I will use them in dishes when Im cooking....instead I like to mush them all up in my mouth .... The oily little buggers turn to paste in no time. I always have to pop one between my finger n thumb just to watcht the oil run out ..... LOVE EM !

Pistachios, then cashew, then macademia then big peanuts.

I also like pumpkin seeds and whole almonds.

I used to roast my own nuts by buying the bulk from places like Holland and Barretts, to find I don't eat them fast enough and they go rancid, and I cannot stand nuts that are rancid.

So I don't do that anymore!

.

Waitrose used to make a pumpkin seeds bread with olives, they were really yum!

Another reason I like roasting my own nuts is that I can control the amount of salt I put on them, as the ready made stuff are rather salty

Shouldn't roasting your own nuts be on a fetish thread?
