Does anyone else suffer with loneliness?

No one alive does not. At least, nobody sane. In small doses it can even be a good thing, I think, reminding you how much the company and affection of other people matters.

A miserable, corrosive, tormenting experience when it dominates life. I don't imagine anyone hasn't had moments when it dominates, but they're easy to forget (and good that they are) when times are good.

Friendliness is the cure, but it's a cure that's almost impossible to imagine when loneliness is at its worst.

Apologies; that scribble of nonsense is meant to be sympathetic encouragement, on the assumption you're suffering yourself. Hard to do it without sounding blase or patronising. But whenever we're feeling down, things generally do get better.

Have done and may well do again. It can be pretty crushing. Other than saying I hope it gets easier for you, there's not much I can say. This too shall pass

COVID has had a massive impact on people's feelings of loneliness...a lot of people have confided that COVID really made them feel isolated and have struggled thereafter.

Whilst it's normal to feel lonely for small periods..if it continues then it does impact people's mental health.

Men in particular are poor at recognising this and even worse at talking about it.

Being part of something is soo important for our wellbeing and happiness.

Difficult to give expenses advice on this forum but I hope you have someone you can talk to.

In my head I’m lonely

I have a family and colleagues who I see each day.

Friends come and go

My life I feel like I’m in solitude each day

I’m in my own bubble

My mind wanders and start to do things which could destroy my life and those around me.

I’m addicted I can’t stop

I feel great at the time then the fall is quick fast and hard.

The self destruct button is so close…

Yeah, I have to make efforts to spend time with people so I’m not alone or lonely, however as an only child I am used to solitude so I can’t be with people all the time and I do enjoy a fair bit of down time away from others.

What has triggered your post op?

Yeah I've been very isolated mentally over the years for various reasons even when surround by friends and family.

These last three weeks have been the hardest though. Toughest point of my life and I've been through some shit.

That realisation is pretty stark at times.

Every now and again, but I have things to bring me out of it. Music, movies, going to places I like. It lifts and I'm happy again.

Too much time and too much thinking about it probably

Most days, OP. But especially the weekends as the poor staff in Costa will attest.

Are you ok? The forums can be fun but they’re not a solution.

I’m looking for some new friendships on here non sexual and any gender as I think Im missing some social interaction just a tad and was thinking of some local meet ups groups soon though via here would be great ( non club )

I’m up for a little social group if it ever works out on here and that we share interests of the site and being ourselves.

Happy to chat private just realistic to keep it quite local area to me nothing to lose much to gain.

I used to feel lonely a lot. Then I realised I was actually not. I thought not having a partner meant I was lonely. I thought my life would suddenly be better if I did. I was wrong.

I have my moments, some days it hits me that I don't have anyone to hold me after a really long day or to tell me they love me. I have a huge amount of love to give and I now know I don't need a relationship for that.

My life is busy and full on so now I happily indulge in beautiful moments to compliment my life, because it's already complete.

I won't go into details on here but a emotional abusive, narcissistic marriage ensured I lost all friends and have very little communication with family. Moved to Glasgow a few weeks ago and the only time I'm not feeling lonely or lost is when I have my children with me.

Things will get better and I will get to know new friends. Signed up to walking football just to socialise. Not kicked a ball in 10 years due to injury but going to try.

I've been feeling very lonely recently. I am suffering from skin hunger. Little to no meaningful physical contact has wrecked my mental health.

I've been battling with daily suicidal thoughts for over a year now.

My therapist knows about these thoughts and so do some of my online friends. My real life friends know about my struggles with mental health. I have loads of mates and a decent social life.

I just need a long hug from someone that I find attractive.

Loneliness is pretty crushing and I find it creeps up on me. My kids are here all the time, but it's adult company I wish for and at the same time avoid because I feel low & don't consider myself good company. Perhaps others relate?

The forum can be an antidote at times, but it also reinforces feeling lonely if you don't have a bountiful sex life!

The forums/fab make me grateful to be alone.

I like my own company. I like me.

People are the problem.

Yep, lonely for years. I have acquaintances and work colleagues but no friends and certainly no love life. The severity comes and goes. I am an introvert so I like my own company but it's not the same thing.

I find that helplines are for crisis situations. This isn't really crisis management.

Most services exist to get you through the day. I have been suicidal for over a year. My therapist knows all about it.
