PTSD triggered

Hiiii

Something (I’m not sure what ) triggered my PTSD on Saturday, which started with the beginnings of a panic attack - which didn’t quite hit, and it resulted in what felt like a 4 day long bad acid trip … I have only started to feel like myself again in the last hour

Does anyone else with ptsd experience long lasting really vivid stuff when triggered ?

I e bordering on psychosis , really extreme depersonalisation… to the point that for about 4 hours on Sunday night I had seconds where I couldn’t remember Who I was or anything about my life or any experiences I have had outside of that moment

Believing nothingim is real and reality may change and turn into something completely different at any second?

I’ve managed to function through it but fucking hell it was a lot

Yes!! Putting barefeet on grass is amazing too.

The biggest thing that’s helped me (when I’m at my normal baseline level ) is yoga

The dot in the i

I have ptsd too, bad men when I was young

The only thing I found to help (because doctors were absolutely useless) was to self study, I found a free resource online, MITocw, anyone can use it without needing to sign up or anything, I studied my own mental health and having answers helped me understand so much better

You know you better than anyone else can

Hope you’re doing better now op, you got this, remember you’ve faced and beaten everything so far and you’re still here, you’re stronger than you realise

I heard someone say ‘I’m not struggling with my mental health, my mental heal is struggling to destroy me’ and it made me look at things a little differently

The other I heard was ‘a flame cannot see how bright it shines’ we can’t see how well we’re doing in the moment, only with hindsight

Yoga has been a great help to me over the past two years

Yes cPTSD although I know my triggers very well and it's been a long time since it has got to that stage.

I tend to dissociate now. I've kind of trained myself into hypo-arousal it's easier to manage than hyper-arousal states. My mind shuts down to protect itself. As good as it gets for me: My cPTSD is 'too complex for therapy'.

Breathing diaphragmatic like you may do in yoga or meditation, works best for me. Along with rhythmic butterfly tapping I got from EMDR to self-soothe.

It's hard though when it kicks in so quickly and furiously. Just a cascade of horrific memories like you say a bad trip. A high pitch constant tone inside my head, which drowns out any noise. Beliefs I was cursed as all I could remember were those events.

Feel for you being in a state like for so long is horrendous and exhausting.

My support coach would be saying get in a cold shower with your clothes on.
