All those so called friendly terms are often inappropriately used. Like the young guy at the till calling me mate when I go to pay and lots of other similar situations. Not really appropriate imo.

Ahhhh i understand what your saying now. As if in some way they're pretending to be a friend to just sleep with you.

My question was more aimed towards someone seen most days in daily life. Doesn't call any other male "mate" but will often refer to me as mate (tells me I'm dreamy) I've never given an inclination of interest...

But that's not the 'friend zone' is it. That's just friends.

The use of the term is a negative implications that one party dislikes or can't accept the fact someone they like won't and doesn't want to have sex with them.

Being friends should never have any negative connotations.

If you think you've been friendzoned then that's a 'you' issue, not a 'them' issue.

That’s the one and yeah, I get what you’re saying about pet names, I really think they’re used on an individual basis depending what the person themselves are comfortable with, for example working in the service industry you don’t know the persons name most of the time, no need to so a term like mate is a good replacement, or at least not a too bad one. I can think of worse names to call people and I’m sure others can too

But that's not the 'friend zone' is it. That's just friends.

Absolutely. I can think of alsorts of names. But I'm more for the positive lifestyle. Negativity has no place within me.
