whats with all the beards on guys lately, every couple we seem to like the look of the guy has a beard?

we went into a club the other week and every guy at the bar had a beard, with 90% of the guys in the club having beards.

would of thought with the current heat would of thought it would make them warmer.

is it a passing trend, a way to look older?

I like a beard...not a huge long one where I can put pigtails in...but a nice soft well kept beard... Hubby has longer stubble...not quite a beard but I prefer it to clean shaven... Suppose it's a trend at the moment, but I'm loving it

Good beards are well maintained and soft to touch. Imagine a teddy bear not a toilet brush kind of sensation. If a beard is left untamed it’s uncomfortable. If it’s washed conditioned and brushed it’s super soft

I love my beard. I love stroking it and it makes me look like a rugged, mystical Celtic warrior.

OK, that last bit is an exaggeration, but I’d be lost without it. I look at pre-beard photos and I look like an overgrown foetus. It’s never going.

I think it’s more than a trend - they started getting popular again more than ten years ago; longer in music circles.

Long live the beard.

I hate the chore of shaving each day, but never grew a beard until the pandemic (as I did not have to meet people). However, it makes me look at least 10 years older, and I do not need that, so it has gone. Now I tend to go for the stubble look until I have a work meeting and then I shave.

I've noticed a growing (hehe) trend of beards being popular with men but never really stuck with it myself. I can't grow an amazing beard but I haven't been patient enough to try. I can leave shaving for 2 weeks because I can't be arsed but eventually, it has to come up and I'm always clean shaven for meets.

Still need to shave above and below it.

I also need to shampoo and brush my face.

Then try and tame it with styling products.

Going for a haircut now also includes a cutthroat wet shave and beard styling.

Definitely not as lazy as stubble.

It’s personal choice, a beard can look distinguished or make you look a tramp. It’s down to the effort required to keep it looking good.

It’s harder to keep and maintain a beard than it us to shave everyday.

I don’t care if I look older to you or anyone in all fairness. I like my beard and have had one since I left the army in 2007 and the only time I shaved it was when I re enlisted as a reservist to go and do another Herrick Tour in 2011.

And like people say it can hide many things. But also enhance a face.

But like I said it’s personal choice and if you don’t like them then you won’t be win over.

Aside from the fact that beards can be temporary.....how would that help your original point about 90% of guys in a club having beards?

Either put 'No Beards!' in your profile text or just rely on photos sent.

People are unlikely to shave it off just to get one meet.

I have had a beard in and off for such a long time i can’t really remember when i was clean shaven in a regular basis but yes it has become fashionable, much like full sleeve tattoos.

I suffer from shave rash and sensitive skin and that is the reason that i start wearing a beard.

Looking at it from another perspective, men are more limited in the way they can change their appearance to feel more attractive. Clothes and haircuts it go so far. When we look at other like belts, cuff links , watch these add but do not define.

I don’t feel more of a man because i can grow a beard or anything of that sort.

I think it suits me and I’m happy with it. Maybe some day i will go back to clean shaven again, who knows but that is personal choice

"It's lazy

So washing, combing, and putting various products in a beard (the same things people do with head hair) is lazy?

So salty "

Not salty at all, just disagreeing with being called lazy.

your beard is gorgeous. And a good strong beard makes a guy more masculine. Those who only have a few hairs on their faces should avoud growing one

"whats with all the beards on guys lately, every couple we seem to like the look of the guy has a beard?

we went into a club the other week and every guy at the bar had a beard, with 90% of the guys in the club having beards.

would of thought with the current heat would of thought it would make them warmer.

is it a passing trend, a way to look older? "

Can’t say it’s a passing trend for me as I’ve had a beard for years, my chin surprisingly doesn’t get as hot as the rest of my head in the current weather

I've never been a fan of beards I prefer none or a small one if it suits the gut.

I feel every gut believes beards suit them but I can picture most without them and in my mind I'm saying to them I wish you could see what I see by picturing you without a beard

For some it's a trend yes. Obviously, like with most things to do with appearance and fashion, some people do it because everyone else is. Some will continue to do so because they like it, some will stop because some new trend comes along.

For lots of us, we have not been clean shaven for years. In my case close to 20 years, had to go clean shaven a few times but not by choice. I've had varying beard lengths, but each and every time I've done it because I want to. Not because of what some random person feels about them, and I encourage everyone to grow a beard for their own choice and not what somebody else may or may not like - the same applies to clean shaven, do it for yourself and not others.

Sometimes it's tidy, sometimes it's a mess. At all times it is clean and cared for. I brush it, I wash it, I use beard oil, I used beard balm and butter. It's not different than the choice of a hair style. When I go to the barber for my hair, I get him trim my beard.

It makes me look older, for good reason, I had a stupidly over the top baby face for most of my 20s and early 30s, it was not a good look. Now with a beard, a natural part of me, I look closer to the age that I am and I'm happier. Not because it makes me "look good" it makes me feel good within myself, not what I project out and others see.

Imagine if some guy posted that he'd been to a club and all the women had pubes and he wished they'd all shaved them off..........

Hmmm…. Idea, if the guy takes a trimmer and some cream and they could solve two problems at once, shave the ladies and then the club can provide complimentary beards for any guys that turn up without a beard?! Simples lol x

I have a very short beard, more like long stubble. Not sure why but I feel really young without it and I don’t think clean shaven suits me much anyway.

My head is far too round for that!

A well maintained and groomed beard is much more effort to maintain than being clean shaven.

A straggly unkempt mess is a different matter, but those saying a beard is lazy have clearly never had a short well defined one.

Although tbf, having a gut could be called lazy. Maybe Fab could add a filter for that too?

It’s a fashion thing.

I’ve seen profiles of people looking for men who look like vikings. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Mrs N doesn’t like beards for what it’s worth (aesthetically and in terms of feel)

Or indeed a long well defined one - the longer the beard the greater the upkeep, it's definitely not laziness!

The thing with the straggly/unkempt/scruffy/untidy beards that the anti-beard brigade complain about is that shaving the beard off isn't going to magically make the man underneath clean and tidy. Someone that looks like a tramp with a beard will look like a tramp without one, too.

It may be a fashion thing to those who like it on others. It may be a fashion thing to some that have that look.

But to a fair number of them, it's more than just the look. Some are actual pagans and druidic, not quite vikings because it doesn't mean what people think it means, but still. The "fashion" is part of the lifestyle, not the fashion is the lifestyle.

I’ve thought about this for a few hours. Couldn’t get it out of my mind. It’s all I’ve thought about. And I think you’re over-thinking it.

For every druid or pagan out there, there will be countless others who have the beard, tattoos and generic “barber shop” pomade-ridden hair simply because of the aesthetic and because some ladies love that look.

Not disputing that, to some, it’s more than that but as an analogy, Japanese tattoos are cool and many have them because of the aesthetic; but to say a “fair number” of us are Yakuza would seem a bit of a stretch and making an argument for argument’s sake.

Beards make her hypersensitive, she turns into a adult size

For me its because I grow up listening to metal and into motorbikes where lots of guys have them so wanted 1. That and I started to shave really young so by the time I was 18 was fed up with shaving. Most people in my life have never seen me without a beard or can't remember what I looked like
