Am I the only one that finds it unbelievably weird and off putting of this site that some guys seem to think it's ok to deep dive on the internet to find your private social media even though you clearly have your face covered in your pics and minimal details of who you are?

I have an online stalker. Been with me over ten years now. Just keeps on popping up.

I’m kind of used to it now.

Wirral.

It's creepy.

And it's not just guys who do it.

I know of women who have done it, too.

Totally unacceptable

Yeah I agree it's so weird, then they send a friend request or a message then use your real name while messaging on here trying to get a reaction, just why?

Hate it

Like go away

Just cause I’m on here doesn’t mean I’ll shag you, if I ignore you on here what makes you think you messaging me on Facebook or insta is gonna make a difference?

It's a risk we all take.

I was doing a pub quiz once and someone was using a Facial Recognition app

So anyone can be recognised on here.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

It's horrible.

And as Red said, women do it too. I've had that before, and they decided to tell everyone on my friends list (including my family) that I was on here.

People are weird.

One reason I never have my face on public view and I'm extremely careful about what personal information I give away and to who.

No, it's not nice at all but you can't control what others do. Do I have to say there's all sorts out there.

There was a recent thread on this. Here's a few suggestions to protect yourself.

In the privacy option on fab, stop your data showing up on search engines.

Don't use the same user name, data or photos

Fuzz your data, move your locations.

If you use IG FB or Whatsapp, maybe think about a separate phone, this option only helps your socials being found from your phone number or proximity.

These should make it harder but not impossible. If someone has your face pic or a partial then its a lot easier.

I appreciate the advice might give some of those ideas a go.

Steve, I apologised for that and promised I'd never tell anyone or out you publicly.

Like Elsa, let it go.

How would anyone find your socials through your phone number unless you gave it to them? Another reason to use a different number.

Or from proximity, I don't understand how that would work

It depends. If those "guys" have ulterior motives and nefarious purposes then it's weird and off-putting.

For genuine reasons I have, on occasions, done it as a form of 'due diligence' when a woman lands in my inbox with a message of honourable intentions, but somehow has a profile with photos of 'questionable qualities'. Google Reverse Image et al are such useful tools.

As I said, it's all about 'due diligence' and for my reassurance, and not me obsessively scouring the Earth for every conceivable photograph of hers.

nae danger.

Dont think this is gender specific had a lady on here tell me what my latest fb post was previously just blocked her. I get it my face pics are there and what not but to actually go into detail what I've posted I don't need that level stalking from someone I ain't met

I get this all the time

And it’s not even when my face is public

People recognise my tits, despite me never having them out in public

And if they do eventually tell me who they are, I have no idea who the fuck they are

I just play dumb and tell them it’s not my name

Even when they list my husbands name, where I live, where I went to school, my bloody parents…..I usually play dumb

FB used to suggest people based on proximity, you share the wifi or repeatedly be in the same location at the same time. I don't know if they stopped that. You're right, you have to give someone your number before it's a another stalking tool. They don't find everything all at once. Maybe you have an usual christian name and they know the town you live in. Google will help them fill in the gaps Most of these guys are just lucky. There are some that comb leaks and data dumps from hacks to combine and cross reference information but they're a step up from a socials stalker.
