"I commute so get through a few books a week. This week have read: The Magic Toyshop - Angela Carter Still as good as when I first read it although the ending gets me every time! All The Young Men - Ruth Coker Burks. Just finished this one and it made me weep but ultimately it was a great read. Halfway through Good Pop Bad Pop - Jarvis Cocker (so far so brilliant) and about to start The Last Party - John Harris. Always up for a recommendation or 5. " How many a week?........That is some hardcore reading. Where do you work, the international space station?

"Books I recently read and recommend: Small Mercies - Denis Lehane. A great crime writer Strong Female Character - Fern Brady. Funny and painful Her story of life with undiagnosed ASD and eventual diagnosis Empire of Pain - Patrick Radden Keefe. The story of the sackler dynasty. This one might make you angry. Say Nothing - Same Author. A very well written account of some of the people involved in the abduction and killing of Jean McConville in Belfast 1972. Currently reading The Empire of Water by Abraham Verghese. A slow dreamy book covering a family history. Starts with a 12 yr old girl discussing her impending marriage with her mother. " I'll have to look out for Small Mercies, I love Dennis Lehane's books one of my fav's is Mystic River the last couple of chapters were a whirlwind! And I loved his Kenzie and Gennaro series just wish he had written more of them!

"Currently reading Small Worlds. I started it a while back but life got in the way. I picked it up again two weeks ago and read when I’m on a commute couple times a week. Anyway it’s gorgeous. I would recommend. If you know me in the forums you won’t be surprised that I love it, like I love Open Water, because it Centers Black characters in London that are familiar and relatable and to see experiences that are relatable and familiar written down so beautifully and lauded by award givers is representation that warms my stomach. I’m reading The Happy couple next. Got a signed copy of this book, Naoise Dolan’s second, because her first was so good. Sorry these likely won’t interest many people but they’re very me. " It sounds really interesting - I'll see if its on Libby

More if I include uni texts - but who reads those all the way though? "Currently reading Mayflies by Andrew O' Hagan.
