For many out there today is a day to celebrate, and if that is you I wish you the happiest Father's Day ever!

For others, however, today will be a more poignant and possibly painful day. If that is you, have a hug from me x This day will pass xx

I love you

I have many fond memories of my Father who died aged 60, way too early.

He was a good man who worked hard for our family, had a great sense of humour and was fair.

Thank you, I love you too xx

It's a mixed day for me. It's a celebration that my daughters are happy and healthy.

My closest friend is enduring her dad's final days (cancer) it may well be that he does not make it through today. My heart is hurting for her.

My father was born in 1918. If he were alive today he wouldn't be dead. He was the absolute best thing in my life but selfishly he left me when he was only 82.

It was always Father's Day for me. We didn't wait for Funky Pigeon.

I am who I am and who I am is cos of my Dad. xxxxx

My daughter started as a twin, she's now an only child. It was a long time ago and I am reconciled, but I do sometimes wonder how things might have been.

A fathers duty is built on trust

Love borne from golden star dust

To be there whenever needed

Providing advice not always heeded

Once a father you become

Stepping out from the shadows of the sun

You are longer the most important person in your life

To be on hand to assist with all the troubles and strife

This role gleefully accepted with no real training

Peppered with doubts and a degree of complaining

There are no material rewards for this life long role

Save for those that are destined for your soul

As for those that can only remember in their minds eye

Whose Time has sadly passed by

Remember those yesteryears

No doubt with joyful tears

So if you are able and possibly can

Go and see your old man

Take a card and a bottle of old spice

Give him a hug not once but maybe twice

A fathers love in my experience is so dear

After the hugs and old spice gift take the old man for a cool cool beer!

My dad died 29 years ago next month…. I was on ops in NI and found out a day later.

I miss him but still do Father’s Day, I still have a beer like I would if he was still alive. But I also have my daughter who looks forward to spending the day with me doing cool stuff.

Thank you.

Its a bit of a mixed day for me. Lost my dad 12 years ago and his dad a few weeks ago. My dad was only 52.

I'm also sad for my boys that their dad isn't in their life and makes no effort to be. I always feel so guilty that I choose so poorly.

However equally I think I'm pretty proud of the fact Im mum, dad and grandparents to my boys, they are all incredible young men who may one day become amazing dad's or partners. Full of respect, compassion, kindness and love.

I know I'm very lucky.

Days like this make me reminisce about my dad in the garden, creosoting the fences with his top off.

He loved his garden and pond, and still kept doing what he could even after a tumour in his head operation.

He was a good egg. Just finished 30 months of chemo and all was meant to be positive, looking forward. Unfortunately all the chemo damaged his heart and it couldn’t be fixed. He died age 32 a few weeks after our son turned two. Our daughter was five. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

Big love to you too x
