It's stupid what thoughts go through your mind at the most inconvenient of times.

While I'm prepping today and tomorrow morning for a Colonoscopy tomorrow afternoon (Laxatives... coffee and or Bovril and no solids until after 4pm (ish) tomorrow. (I know how to live!!)

It made me think. (god knows why!!)

What Prep do you guys / girls do before receiving anal?

Clean / Douche / Pre-Lube / Go in stinky??

Hope it goes well well for you tomorrow OP

I have to douche and ensure it is spotlessly clean before anyone comes anywhere near me

Unfortunately going off experience I went with an over the counter laxative then douche in the morning

They will ask if you have passed solids (ugh)

And give you some lube before they go in

If they give you the option to watch on screen take it

It's really interesting

Just relax afterwards and you will feel much more comfortable soon after

Nothing to worry about (this bit)

Hope your results are all good

Thanks all.

It's actually my second one.. and they are looking to see how much my tumour has changed in the 6 weeks before they saw it before.

I was sedated before.. unsure whether gas and Air is on the table or not at this point.

Anyways.. we have to look positive to these things... hence me asking the question about prep.

I will share your answers with Kelbel who is not only.my FwB but also my (non family) support mechanism.

So.. shower.. douche and plenty of lube!

They asked me if I wanted to be awake and watch the process. I said not bloody likely, give me whatever you've got so that I remember nothing.

I opted to be awake and watch when I went through it.

No gas and air either just lots of lube and a running commentary on how the camera worked lol

Wasn't pleasant on the way back out but it wasn't "knock me out" worthy

I had one some years back, wasn't any problem, quite fascinating to watch the progress of the camera.

All good, other than a mild case of diverticulitis.

Did find that the laxatives weren't just a 24 hr thing, had to be near a loo for the next 72 hrs!!

I remember being quite apologetic for the noises my rear end was making, but they said they'd heard it all before.....just not played as well

Certainly lightened the experience

Well.. Good news is - this colonoscopy is over and done with...I didn't have sedation or gas/air, but I had a pain reliever, which is just as well. A 12mm polyp was removed and sent for biopsy as they were concerned how "white" in colour it was, which apparently commonly shows that it is not benign.

Results came back and sadly, I have to undergo further investigation - as they found the polyp to contain cancerous cells. (second time in 10years).

I'm not keen on things being put up my ass, but it's all for a greater good.. and it probably preparing me for a delicious lady to peg me at some point in my life!!

And it will also help work out what additional treatment I need to undergo.

With regards to the laxatives 24/48hrs thing... it's true - 72hrs is about the time it lasts for. and It took me days before I could trust a fart! - lol

Onwards and upwards! let's hope to god that it's been caught early! Spirits are quite high at the moment!!

Sorry to hear about your news, dude. That must be a stressful thing to process, although you do sound like you’re a positive guy!

Fingers crossed that whatever it is, is eminently treatable.

May I align myself wholeheartedly with this too

But further, to answer your question ; I watch what I eat 24hrs prior to the event ( some foodstuffs seem a lot more difficult to clean out.. I hope that is not too stomach churning!)

I take a few anti diarrhoea tablets four or five hours before. And I douche frequently while I put on my makeup.. it takes me hours to get made up, I am usually douching, drinking fizz, listening to music, swearing cos my makeup is a mess, re-doing it etc

Finally I put scented oils or moisturiser and lube up using a nice long thin toy, 18 inches of so just to make sure it is all nice and clean as deep as possible… oh and a thin toy… I don’t want people having to tie planks across their arse to stop them from falling in!
