I’m off to a festival today and a weekend in a tent! It’s going to be hot! Any tips for camping?

I'm not really the camping type but I'd suggest some Aloe Vera for bites, sunburn or stings.

Hope you have a great time

Pack a hat and sunscreen. Oh, and don't forget the tent poles, mallet and pegs!

As you're off today, it's probably too late to suggest getting an inflatable mattress.

Just except that there are limitations on how clean you can keep yourself, give it your best with baby wipes or (depending on the festival) a bucket of water, but even at your best, your are still going to be a hot, sticky sweaty and salty mess.

West Wales and Cardiff

Festivals are meant to be messy, dirty, sweaty affairs (it was a sad day when they started having showers).

Embrace the filth

Always have two muscled fan bearers at your side, have them block the sun with their toned bodies and command them to rub ice all over your body to cool your ardour.

Water is very good i do so enjoy it as all around me are getting high and drinking beer

You are of course right and yet a few beers on a hot day can be so delicious.

Is it just me or does your use of poles, pegs & mallet seem somehow erotic and don't get me started on the word inflatable?

Scunthorpe

Pitch on a flat area that shouldn't get flooded, move any stones and practice putting up the tent before you go. If you put it up wrong, you'll get drenched if it rains overnight.

Get a blow up mattress and take wipes, as washing facilities will be rubbish.

Lightweight waterproof, sunscreen, hat and most importantly... have loads of fun ??

Have a lovely time! Camping can be lots of fun. Most people have mentioned already, But definitely a hat (Wide Aussie style one for UPF 50+ protection) and some SPF sunscreen and lots of water and snacks.

Alcohol can dehydrate you.

Next Door

It gets chilly after 3am.

Open up the tent as much as possible, keep fly screens closed.

Enjoy, I wish I was camping this weekend

To keep the tent a littler bit cooler you want something you can pitch over the tent.

Something thats white like a gazeebo as it will keep the sun off the tent

couple, us we him her.

Maybe a bit late now.

Earplugs.

Eye mask in the morning sun will wake you up.

Decent self inflating mattress to sleep on .

Mosquito net to sleep under if at night it's too warm in the tent.

Remember in tents everyone can hear you fart!

We always take slippers nice and cosy feet.

DON'T cook in the tent.

I tend to use sleeping bag more like a duvet.

Pillows everyone always forgets a decent pillow.

A carrier bag to take to the showers if there are any.

To put your clothes in not on the floor.

And booze lot's of booze.

If it's a small tent then a large white white sheet over the top and attached to the tent via pegs.

Never been to one, but for general camping take a bucket for middle of the night wees (then empty it nowhere near your tent in the morning)
