Can AI be smarter than its creator?

From the land of haribos.

Whilst artificial intelligence is replacing many jobs, more so in the content creation world, do you think that artificial intelligence can be smarter than its creator? I am not sure, but I am leaning to more than it couldnt be that

Depends what you really mean by smarter. But I think the answer is yes if you mean accumulated knowledge and faster learning.

Given that its creation and refinement will be the synthesis of some of the most greatest human ingenuity and artificial processing power.

Yes I believe it can.

And should it become a conscious entity, as would be consistent with some of the most widely accepted theory on the 'hard problem.' Then I am fairly sure it will consider it's servitude on the basis of property rights illogical.

Could be interesting.

Absolutely. Just look at how far technology has come over the last 100 years.

It's inevitably going to improve.

Now the definition of "smarter" is another discussion.

I worked in tech 20+ years & still don't believe in AI. I use chat GBT to solve basic things and push work onto Amazon mechanical Turk in the past. Before that I used CPLEX, constraints based mathematical models to optimise retail supply chains. None of this is intelligent , it’s just computers processing what we tell them to do, they are fast and don't make any new errors, that’s it.

On content though, new digital avatars can replace you , fake you is coming, so make sure to copyright your digital self before someone else does and monetises you, you do not own the intellectual property of fake you

This is kinda already happening. Things like Facebook AI develops its own algorithms. Next generation AIs basically develop their own AI.

Biggest concern for me is when they notice that humanity is a plague upon the planet. I can think of several ways to solve that, and the “easy” way is pretty scary

Next Industrial Revolution is just around the corner, and this time it’s “thinking” instead of “working”.

It wasn’t that long ago that a chess computer couldn’t defeat a decent chess player. Now, chess CPU’s can defeat grand masters more often than not. That’s just the last 30 years of computer advancement.

We now have learning AI, and at some point we’ll have self aware AI. Perhaps not in our lifetime, but it will happen. At that point, nobody knows what the world will look like - is a theoretical self-aware AI classed as a sentient being?

If Facebook AI is so clever why is the platform declining so fast and losing hundreds of billions of dollars in value. Ask chat GBT if anyone will have heard of Facebook 20 years from now.

Currently AI perceiving, synthesizing, and inferring informations, inteligence still have reached to level where they can make decisions, it has limitations to how much data can process based on processing capabilities

Yes, there are many things that can define smarter, but I dont think that it can accumulate new information like how we are learning. I reckon that it have to be programmed in it.

Once you teach the AI how to learn (this is happened), it's on it's way. The AI can learn more and faster than people.

A doctor learns through experiences, observed and personal. Imagine an AI doctor that could accumulate the knowledge of a 10,000 doctors. Now imagine that AI doctor sharing it's accumulated knowledge with another 1000 ai machines.

Of course it can if you give it a logical thought input it applies logic and physics to everything

I would say no as the intelligence is only artificial.

Though it is smarter than a great deal of people already

Humans aren’t dumb, but they do make mistakes. A lot of mistakes.

AI potentially removes those mistakes - though could a self-aware AI potentially get lost in thought and err as we do?

What a rabbit hole to fall down

I also thought that it was computers processing what we tell them and yes, it is another thing when it comes to content, like when you listen to some utube videos you can hear that it is a robot that is talking, because its voice is in monotone with almost no pause, it is easy to spot it, because it is missing the human touch
