Why do people have rants are they angry people or are they reacting to the way they've been treated or is it just easy to have a rant online? I get my point across but I'm never angry

Carlisle usually

Online I quite often just word vomit whatever is on the surface of my brain.

Then people who don't know me tell me to chill out or calm down. But I'm perfectly calm and generally chilled, I'm just letting the words out.

I do it in person too, but then it's with people who know me and my tones so they don't think I'm ranting or being weird about it.

Some people are only happy when they’re unhappy about something.

Yep very much this. I think sometimes we're quick to ascribe feelings to how another person is feeling. Obviously there are times when you can tell someone is unhappy/angry and they're wanting to get it out of their system. There's a relative anonymity afforded to people on here, they can post more openly on certain things.

Yes i think some people love to moan if its not about the weather ' oh its too hot i can't stand on the sand in bare feet' or ' oh its too wet i may grow webbed feet'

This one here. Some folks just love the misery. In some perverse way it sustains them.

I am with you all the way on this!

People I work with often say “calm down you will have a heart attack”

I then smile sweetly ( or as sweetly as I am able ) and say “I am fine, I am totally calm”

And I really am!

A rant is good for the soul

Generally it’s brought on by someone else’s behaviour, it’s ok to speak about how someone has treated you, that’s how we humans gain perspective and learn what’s ok and what isn’t in this crazy world we share

It’s too easy to become isolated in an ecco chamber otherwise

I interpret it as a 'safety mechanism' to release whatever form of short-term angst or exasperation they are harbouring, without necessarily being an angry person.

Even the most docile amongst us vent on occasions. Doing it online or on here is just an easy conduit without necessarily looking for acceptance.
