… an air that kills

From yon far country blows,

What are those blue remembered hills,

What spires, what farms are those?

That is the land of lost content,

I see it shining plain

The happy highways where I went

And cannot come again!

Getting old is pretty shit isn’t it?

Or is it? Maybe you think life gets better as you get older!

I would love to know how this could be the case

Will you still need me, will you still feed me

When I'm sixty-four

This is no Website for Old Men, I sometimes feel. But then someone is usually charming to me, and my Methuselation returns.

That is lovely of you! But I am 45 and feeling the liver-spotted hand of Time inching towards my shoulder.

I think it’s a double edged sword sometimes OP. It would be lovely to be in my 20s again but at the same time I’m a lot happier in my own skin these days. Either way it is what it is. Eyebags and all

My mother accepted getting old with calm graciousness and she died at 78

My father is now 87 and is a grumpy old bastard.

I also have a good friend who is 73, he acts and appears much younger and generally he is bright and positive, but he does admit to very dark thoughts about the time he has left and how it is shortening by the day.

I find it all a bit sad, inevitable, I know, but sad

It is incredibly sad to see. I think some people just are like that about getting old. I just see it as a blessing
