Have you done it? If so why? Was it an emergency or did you just bottle it? Really curious to know what reason you might have to do this.

Has it happened to you… what was the reason… if you got one..

Carlisle usually

Sometimes I've had to cancel things at short notice. Always with the honest reason and if not an immediate offer to reschedule an apology then and attempt to reschedule once things have settled.

Ha, we've never done it yet it has been done to us so many times it makes us sick to the back teeth... excuses ?

Same couple THREE TIMES on separate dates 1.Son was beat up 2.Husband had to be rushed into hospital 3.They ghosted us !

Another couple admitted 15 MINUTES before agreed time that they were withholding their address as only using us as backup incase the other couple didn't appear

Another, she'd slipped and broken her ankle but he was still free to meet

Most simply ghost us a few days before the agreed date

I've never stood anyone up ,years ago I did have to cancel same day as my dad who I looked, after got taken to hospital.

I think it's just rude to no show and not let the person know in advance.

I have hidden illnesses and had to cancel on the day because of them.

But I've never stood someone up.

Not had it done to me either on fab.

I have however pulled out of a social or two the day before but explained why I didn't want to entertain the idea anymore. Yet still come off the bad guy regardless.

I haven't stood someone up.

I have been stood up. Some years back, I was on Fabguys. I don't meet easily, even if I do meet, and i chatted to this guy for a few weeks. Eventually he talked me into it, gave me his postcode and said he'd give me the house number when I got there. I drove half an hour, parked up in the right street and messaged him. Nothing. The little "in your area" feature on Fab said he was old and "within touching distance". So he was probably in one of the nearby houses. After sitting there for 15 minutes, I gave up.

2 hours later he messaged to say he'd had to go out suddenly for some bullshit reason. I blocked him.

Me, no. I’ve never done it, and never will. If I arrange to meet someone, it’s because I’m excited to meet them.

Some people over exaggerate what they think an emergency is.

Just say, you’ve changed your mind, I can deal with the truth.

Never stood anyone up but we have been in a pub and still getting messages from someone even an hour after the agreed time saying they are running late until they finally admitted they weren't coming, luckily we still enjoy eachother's company so we had a lovely even regardless (I guess it would be so much worse for a single)

I've been stood up around 3 times (all socials, a few years ago now). 1 guy I had been chatting to for ages, made the arrangements I turned up, he didn't. I sent him a photo to prove I'd turned up. He saw the message and deleted no response. I subsequently blocked him.

Similar story for 2nd and third (I'd sent photos of where we arranged to meet) chatted right up until the morning of coffee date then off the radar. I always make a back up plan to do some shopping or drop in on friwnss and family so my time isn't wasted.

Would never just not turn up. Have quite often had to cancel at short notice but I always try to be upfront from the start as to why I might need to cancel last minute. It's still rubbish having to do it though.

On the other side, I usually just get ghosted.

Stood up 3 times on here. Once he decided watching football was more important messsges me while I was at the meet point). 2nd just didn’t turn up no message. Few weeks later messaging me in chat like nothing happened (blocked immediately after I pointed out he’s a timewaster). 3rd just ghosted me in the night.

Sad sad little men.

Only once have we had to cancel, as mother nature visited a week earlier than expected.

We let them know as soon as we could, though it was on the same morning as the planned afternoon meet.

Actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise for us.

I've cancelled on the day as they've started to say things that I didn't like or started to show in messages they don't respect boundaries

I don't regret it and will do it every time if at any point I start to feel uncomfortable

I've done this but they usually start with sexual suggestive crap very soon after a social is arranged.

If it got to the day and they started then I'd cancel last minute.

Perfectly reasonable and understandable. If you don’t feel comfortable about it then you don’t go through with it.

I’ve limited experience but so far I’ve not been stood up or done it myself.

Only cancelled on the day once, but I don't think it counts because we were stuck at a standstill on the M25 for 3hrs after a major accident and kept him updated throughout, and we did say we would probably be unable to meet him after all. He said this was fine and to let him know when we were home "so that he knew we were safe".

We rocked up home at 11pm and he starts DEMANDING that we still meet. Obviously at that point we had been on the road for 6 hours, we were exhausted, we were starving, we were fed up, neither of us had showered or shaved and we were the furthest thing from horny you could ever bloody imagine, and he was calling us every name under the sun and moaning that he had turned down other people to meet us.

Only time meeting has ever gone wrong, but in this case, I was glad it did!

I've never stood anyone up but I've cancelled sure. Sometimes the energy can change after a meet is set and if I start to feel the vibe is weird, I'll leave it.

We all have a right to change our minds or cancel for whatever reason but the key to all this is communication between everyone.

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

I've never stood someone up or cancelled. Good chemistry was always established before any meets that was sure to make them memorable.

I did have one meet I was very much looking forward to cancelled on me with very short notice. I was able to sort alternative plans though.

One gets an enormous sense of relief when one discovers one has indavertantly dodged a bullet - particularly after having felt so bad about having let someone down through no fault of ones own, doesn't it?

I've never stood anyone up or been stood up. I've been cancelled on three times a couple of hours before meeting. Twice by the same guy who was subsequently blocked.

I've cancelled twice, once due to getting stuck really late at work but offered to reschedule. The second time last week because he got very sexual with his messages during the day, putting me under pressure to at least have oral sex with him when we met, so I cancelled and told him why then blocked him.

In over 10 years of using Fab, I’ve never not made it to a meet.

I have however, been stood up, ghosted, postponed, and cancelled on many times. You just take it on the chin, block their profile (if it’s still here), and move on. Plenty of genuine people who mean what they say to meet

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

I've had to raincheck on plans a couple of times. Once my mother went into hospital leaving me unable to leave dad and make the social I'd planned, and more recently the clutch went on my car meaning my cross country trip (and coffee/social) had to be postponed.

But I always let the person know as soon as possible, and so far they've been very understanding and happy to rearrange.
