"Yep. Got is so badly at the moment I’m considering HTR, even I’m not a fan of pharmaceuticals and was swearing by to go all natural. At the breaking point right now. " I was like that in 2019. But I suffered other symptoms before it levelled out on HRT and my sex drive was crazy. The HRT did help but I'm not at that point yet. My cycle has been regular ish since I quit smoking. And I'm just over two weeks of being nicotine free so I'm wondering if that's related.

"You can have a full bloods health check done via the NHS so request that from your Doctors and see what the results come back saying. I assumed the same was happening to me, had every symptom going from the lists for Perimenopause and ended up feeling really unwell. After lots of tests mine actually came back showing I was no where near Perimenopause levels and I was actually suffering from a Liver infection (non alcohol version). After some strong medication I'm back to normal and feel really well again. It's worth having bloods done in case it's something else completely. " Good to hear you feel well again and managed to get things sorted. I’ve done my bloods done last year for that reason and it came back normal too. Despite my age I’m still having regular periods and even my GP is confused. I suffer from endometriosis though and those symptoms are often overlapping. But recently I’ve been feeling really unwell and I think it’s time to go back to GP and check levels again. Never considered going HTR route but I’m on a breaking point.

Not sure it’s applicable for you but a hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did for the endo

" Not sure it’s applicable for you but a hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did for the endo " I’ve been begging them for hysterectomy years but apparently because of my age I’m not a priority. I have also the scar endo, after my CC. They chose to play the waiting game as they believe it’s becoming better once my periods end. It’s not getting better though, quite the opposite. I’ll try again this year and I’m really glad to hear it’s got better for you.

Endo isn’t always in sync with periods, it can flare up at any time of the month especially if it’s attached itself to other organs

"Who else? Definitely seems to be me. Hot flushes, my cycle decides to drop out of sync for no apparent reason and sometimes have night sweats too. It really buggers meets up doesn't it. That's not to mention the bloating, bad skin and hair days you get and the rest of the crazy symptoms. At least I can now account for the headache I've had for two days. Who else endures this rubbish thing and does anything help you? I'm refusing HRT again. " All of this and more but apparently my bloods are fine, it's ridiculously frustrating Tinder

"Hi I searched peri in the forum as wondered if anyone else suffering and found this thread. Having a period every two weeks, did have a night flush last night, sobbing my heart out today, over a partner, period arrives . Again ! I’m 42 this year, been to GP and they said I’m too young for HRT. " Can you see another GP at your practice? I'm 41 and was prescribed pessaries in January. Since peri can last up to 10 years before full menopause you're definitely not too young.

"Yep. My last period was back in January. Currently getting hot flashes which are not great when it’s already so hot. Apart from that I’m ok so far. I’m on medication for the roaring anxiety I have and I’m more chilled out as a result. HRT was ruled out as there is a history of breast cancer in my family." Ah ok - family history here too for the breast cancer. I think I might go on the mirena iud coil, I’ve got a copper iud. They suggested to me - go on A-D and the mini pill or the hormonal iud.

"I thought I was getting it after a hysterectomy in March but just had my bloods done and all normal so must have been a temporary fluctuation in hormones after the op symptoms have stopped now too thank fuck!" Just because your bloods were ok, doesn't mean you're not menopausal. Your hormones fluctuate throughout the month, so sometimes it takes more than just one blood test.

" I was told for months I was too young at 40 I then ended up being referred to a gynecologist and told her my symptoms. She contacted my doctor and I'm now on HRT patches, they've helped so much, especially with the flushes. But yes, it's shit and can bugger up meets. Hope you find something that helps you x

Going one further, ANY relationship is better by trying to understand each other by talking. But that’s another conversation altogether. I started to get sympathy pains with my ex wife’s cycles (frequently ) * I know right? No man deserves that!! *true story. But, I do look at a woman and think, damn, is men get up, and only have to worry that I may lose some hair on top. Women prepare for body changes that I can’t grasp or will ever experience

"Out of curiosity - why wouldn’t you take HRT? " Lots of reasons. Like anything, it helps some. In others, causes all sorts of side effects. Can increase the risk of breast and endometrial cancers. My menopause has been sudden and induced medically but worth it. The minute they insisted I take HRT, it immediately brought back all my symptoms and it's undone all the benefits of knocking oestrogen out for me. I've gone from reasonably comfortable/low pain but some hot flushes, to excruciating pain, random bleeding etc but even when I've stopped the HRT, I've not gone back to how well I felt with pretty much zero oestrogen. Oestrogen drives things such as endometriosis and adenomyosis (I have both) and so anything replacing or mimicking oestrogen is problematic. HRT is either synthetic or bioidentical oestrogen (plus or minus progesterone). I'm currently happy to risk osteoporosis and heart disease to have a better quality of life now.

"Have a look on a website called happy mammoth (it's a crap name), and read about the happy hormone supplement. I've been using for a few months, along side hrt, and they have helped with symptoms that my hrt arent touching like bloating/skin/weight." I would definitely second this. I’ve binned the HRT which took me 8 months to get grrr and made me feel even worse. But these tablets have been amazing. Hope you get some relief OP. The lack of help for women in perimenopause is disgusting tbh

If they can get rid of it all, I might give HRT another go. I know lots of women who feel much better on HRT so of course, that's great.

"Ladies can anyone offer any advice of the symptom of thin and easily damaged inner labia skin…if I have any kind of rough and often not at all rough sex I get a tear, it’s soo painful! Doctor prescribed me estradiol (excuse spelling!) pessaries and I lube up…but sometimes it still happens which is a mood killer to say the least! I had an awesome FWB who made it his mission to not let it happen and it was always amazing he’s since moved on and I find new men hard to explain this too!! Anyone recommend any miracle creams, supplements? Or do I give up on sex " There's a lube/vaginal moisturiser called Yes Yes Yes, it's supposed to be very good and it's recommended by pelvic floor physios and gynecology types. You can get it prescribed (if you get free prescriptions, it's obviously free).

"Following for the tips, looks like I'm an early starter. Any tips for the night sweats much appreciated. Mrs Cotton sheets, fan and window open, legs out, avoid wine and caffeine, avoid processed foods.... and no matter what you do night sweats will always be horrible...oh and avoid vitamin b complex... ramped my flushes right up I'd heard vit b can help I think I'll avoid that one, fan is blasting away but the Mr gets cold. Mrs I got quite a lot of nausea (literally like morning sickness symptoms) so been on magnesium for few years, no idea if it helps or not but the vit b definitely made things awful... like irritability hot... " Magnesium definitely helps with my mood, and so does ashawagandha (not sure how it spells), both take me into desired state of not giving a flying fuck. Highly recommended

Unrecognisable from the woman I married and the mother she was with our kids. Became completely asexual (I saw many reporting off-the-scale sex drives on getting through it - how I wished, it would have been a bond of sorts) I often think that the divorce / remarriage phenomenon at this stage of a mature relationship is due to Menopause.
