Summer storms

So being the time of year it is with the heatwave it’s expected to get storms sooner or later. I myself am not a fan of them but I’m fascinated watching them on radars or watching the nut cases who go chasing them. Where I am I’m about twenty miles from Manchester but can still hear it rumbling over the hills. Anyone living in Manchester mind explaining what it’s currently like and if your not in Manchester how heavy have the storms been where you are?

Earlier today , we had a full blown monsoon type storm here.

Went really dark, torrential rain, thunder and lightning.

It went from 31 degrees to 21 degrees within 30 mins and within an hour it was all over with.

Nice n dry again now.

No rain for days.

We need some. In fact not some, a biblical flood would be great right now.

I think what ever hit Manchester this evening is slowly making its way up over the hills to me so I guess I’ll find out for myself what it’s like

East London

We had a few thunderclap then a short deluge.

Then we had sunshine after the rain

I have to admit, observing it in central London was quite nice . It was very refreshing and watching everybody else, scattering like ants With a little bit of rain.

We had a deluge in East London.

I had to close my door and windows.

A storm started just off the coast of France this morning just after midnight, it woke up me at 2am with the thunder.

I’ll have to see if there are any videos on YouTube of the storm, it’s weird I can watch them but I’d rather be nowhere near

I’ve seen that Europe has had a lot of storms for the last few weeks, what sort of temperature is it in France

Three hours ago, in Manchester, it was like Noah was about to sail along at any moment. Biblical levels of rain. Thunder, lightning and general rainforest like weather.

I’ve just gone looking on YouTube at videos and it looked pretty intense

I saw a car submerged on the A580 near Astley, going back towards Manchester. It was pretty hairy in the opposite direction. 30mph max. Not a pleasant drive, unfortunately

We had a couple of rumbles of thunder this morning, but no rain. I think the storms must have been across the water in Kentish Kent

After all the storms crossing the m6 and m65 nothing hit where I live, apparently I’m in a bubble surrounded by hills that most storms don’t go through

There hasn't been a drop of rain where I am. But heavy rain all around.

My friend sent a video of the ceiling collapsing and water pouring in at their offices in London today.

We had about 4 hours of continuous thunder. Like a freight train rolling.

Rained very heavy last night and this evening.

My tomato plants are the happiest they've been in weeks

I'm not far from simplerpleasures.

We had thunder and lightening and heavy rain and lost our electricity for a while.

We sat around a ye olde wireless, and did some actual conversation.

It was creepy when the storm stopped and all the animals and birds stayed quiet for a very long time.

We spent some time with the kids counting the interval between a lightning and thunder to get the distance. Was fun until it hit so close it didn't take a second to go BOOM.

Oh and hello neighbor

We finally got the first storm of the year here, not the biblical levels the rest of the north west seemed to get last week but it was enough for me.

In all seriousness though as somebody with a big phobia of the noise does the forums have any suggestions on trying to overcome it? Right now I use headphones and music but that doesn’t always work when it’s overhead. I’ve seemingly tried everything and so far nothing has worked
