What makes a "best men's aftershave"? What's the criteria?

Surely it can’t be answered, most scents will smell differently on different guys.

What’s awesome for one, could be minging for the next.

It's quite a personal question and all opinions will vary.

Personally I own nearly 100 bottles and 60 of them are creed

The best in my opinion for summer is Virgin Island water or neroli sauvage. For winter I go with green Irish t or original santal.

Tom ford also has some good options the stand put being grey vetiver or tobacco vanille.

I also like a combo such as tom ford Ombre leather layered with something sweet like aventus. Mont blanc explorer or Dior sauvage

Thanks for answering. I'm in the market for a new aftershave and I just wanted to see what everyone is into smell wise.

Correct. Hence the inference in my comment above.

I would offer to the OP a different approach in selecting a scent other than following a trend.

The criteria is what gets him the sex

And yes I deleted because of a typo - so spank me!

It's on the cards. These things cannot be rushed.

Hai Karate from the amusements crane grab bucket still smells amazing even after 45 years in a machine - turns a purring pussycat of a woman into a sexual panther of a woman ( if the smell doesn’t give them a stroke!) also good with fish & chips!!

Sauvage is a great blind buy that suits anyone. It's a little bit similar to Bleu de Chanel in its simplicity but it is lovely.

Creed Aventus, another crowd pleaser.

I’ve been looking at some new ones from Italy- so when i get them i’ll post if they’re any good but as someone has said earlier probably Nero as he’s very well informed on this stuff. It can smell amazing on him

And like cat piss on me when the ingredients interact with your skin/ oils body makeup. .

You lucky people!

Unfortunately I am allergic to all liquid aftershaves, containing an alcohol base from which any vapour can trigger a serious coughing attack.

I can only use Balm Cream products, but these are rare!

I actually find fragrances that sort of aren’t on the high street are the best because then not everyone wears them

Creed are now making fragrance oils containing no alcohol.

I use them as a pomade for my beard or even put them in the car air freshener.

Some other niche brands are doing the same but creed are the most easily available and there well priced too.
