How come different companies have different ages for an Adult?

Always thought an Adult was 18 and over.

Companies taking the piss and charging more for kids.

Yes, there are some weird years between 15 and 18 where you get charged different rates. Campsites and trains seem to think children become adults at 15 and want more money from you

Its 18 but, should be 23-25. End of brain development.

Looking back, I was so different from my early 20's compared to my mid!!

Many hotels now charge exactly the same for adults and children once the children are out of a cot, for example. I've seen booking policies that say things like "anyone over the age of 4 is treated as an adult", which is obviously nonsense. Airlines also ceased child prices many years ago. Etc.
