Glasgow

Smoked salmon, buttered boiled new potatoes, pickles. Then a green salad with cheese (Comte, Brillat-Savarin, who-the-hell-knows goat). Quick, simple, summery. Maybe with Champagne, because nothing much else goes with smoked salmon and it is, after all, Monday.

Love comte but it's better grilled on something or used in a roux.

In my opinion of course! I'm going to have a cup of tea OP, zero appetite.

Love Comte grilled or in a roux, but it's better by itself! And better still with some of the Jura white wine from the same region.

Three different ages of Comte with Jura wine and maybe some walnuts; the perfect edible basis of contemplative solitary evenings or long conversations with friends. If there was any justice, a photo of plainly prepared Comte would be fabbed promptly to the top of the Hot Photos. With something soft and oozy coming a deserved second best.

It's a bits of dinner in my house tonight. A lovely salad with lots of greens, peppers and tomatoes in a French dressing. Some left over beef pasta and a baked sweet potato with left over coleslaw
