How do you feel about them out and about? I know they are most likely something many of us and next generation will use but I'm referring to current state of affairs. Both legally and your personal feelings.

I've witnessed an accident yesterday and I'm actually, unlike me, bit shaken by it. What can be done to make sure this doesn't happen?

We need to sort out our infrastructure. Integrate scooters with trains and buses. Build proper cycle (and scooter) paths.

I'd rather see town centres limited to pedestrians, bikes and scooters than have them full of cars, vans and lorries.

It'll happen eventually but not for a while because politicians are scared of telling people to get out of their cars.

We'll since the government want to stop selling petrol cars form 2035 and convert to electric cars then fully legalising electric scooters and Luther modes of electric transport should be part of the plan.

Yes some of the riders are irresponsible but that can be said of any type of vehicle driver at any point. I've been hit by an old person in a mobility scooter more than once and people have been killed by them so maybe they need looking at aswell.

They're all the rage in Europe and don't get all the backlash they do here in the UK. That said most of Europe is years ahead with dedicated cycle paths and promenades etc to use them on.

Gives the police something to waste time on though

Brilliant! Couple of people at work use them to get in as only short journeys so takes their cars off the road. The biggest problem they face is the same as any road user who isn't a car, safety, too many arrogant car drivers who think they own the road and only they have the right to use them. As said above, look at mainland Europe, they are everywhere and very successful. Sadly we couldn't have the hire per mile schemes they do as they'd all jut get nicked or thrown in the nearest river.

Saw one in Edinburgh a few weeks ago hurtling down george st

Must have had an uprated battery and motor

He was doing at least 40mph no helmet or road sense

Wrap the scooter round their neck tightly?

Have had a few near misses!

Points on licence like cars/motor bikes. Hefty fines? Make them have a licence. Maybe sort out the serious from the not so?

I don’t mind them being used or what the regulations are. But there are very few regulations on cycling/skateboarding/roller skates etc and people still have oopsies.

There will always be a risk of someone riding like a dick or not expecting Mavis to come out of her front path and getting knocked over.

I got run into by a kid on a push bike recently. It’s annoying but he wasn’t doing anything I didn’t at his age.

Shame because I expect he would have gone on to have a good life.

I think are great. They're a cheap and effective way yo get around especially in a city and they're less dangerous than cars. The only problem is they've not been given the capacity to be usable anywhere.

Thanks for bringing all the views to the table. When one is upset its hard to access the rational part of brain and think of it from different perspectives.

I just wish it was compulsory to wear helmet and other equipment to make you safer. The couple of teenagers I saw getting hit by a car had none of that. They flew over it. ;(
