I mean, shortened versions of sentences can save time (and help get to the point quicker).

You can also swipe text on keyboard which is very good. Like joined up writing. Lol but prints separately

There’s no limited characters here so I see no need for it

Nope!! Get how it works for some but I hate it. In fact, I find it’s often responsible for not getting the point across more quickly, causing (me) confusion.

This is exactly it. And having to use a numerical keypad to find letters. That’s not the case now. There’s no excuse for being lazy.

I completely accept that lots of people can struggle with grammar and spelling for a variety of reasons but there’s no excuse for not using actual words and sentences

I prefer "text speak" at the earliest stage of engagement because it serves as a useful way for me to euthenise the conversation and move onto better things.

It's fine if we've established a conversation or connection but an opening message that just says "Wuu2" tells me they're probably just sending the same shit to a hundred people and seeing what replies they get.

Swipe keyboards.

Iuse mine all the time. Sometimes it produces odd results, so toy Jane to church everything before you send it. Unfortunately that story odd negates the time faced by using it.

Why are you presuming laziness? Is it really any different to you writing 'That's' and 'There's' instead of 'That is' and 'There is'?

When text speak gets combined with slang, accent and dialect it can become counter communicative.

Txt spk was bcos of txt msgs costing 12p per a msg and limited number of characters u can send per a SMS msg.

Bcos you can spend shed loads on SMS.

Wiv the adv of tech & predictive txt on phones & free txt msgs and cheap mobile data I don't see the requirement or need for it anymore.

It might save a little bit of time but can't see the excuse for using it when we have modern smartphones that have a full keyboard to use. It's just lazy nowadays.

People keep confusing lazy with time-saving.

And if you think it only saves a little but of time you obviously haven't been around a group of teenagers recently, each of whom are having 4 group cbats at once.

It's pretty impressive!

I think people are confusing txt to spk with speak to text. And swipe to text.

This next bet is where I am dictating to get my text across and as you can see there are no mistakes. It also helps if I am holding the phone in one hand
