Express in your bio what you are looking for here and what you can offer. Think of your profile as your CV, and your message as a cover note. Think of others profiles as adverts for a job, read them and realise they are telling you what they are looking for. Look at the profiles you are messaging, what is it about them that catch your attention enough to message them? Look at your own profile, what is it you hope will be enough to attract them to message you. Similar with your message, is it enough for others to feel it's worth engaging with? more than the other many messages they receive that day. | |||

We do reply to most messages, even the single males who obviously haven’t read our profile "Something that shows they've actually read at least some of the words I write rather than just firing off a bland copy paste to every viable orifice. Something that connects with something I've personally said, and so is likely to make me want to talk. I really don't care for telling 200 strangers a day how I'm doing individually. I'll usually send a fine or a no thanks, but they both mean no thanks at that point. If you don't bring an actual topic of conversation to the table, I'm not doing the legwork on initiating it with someone who's supposedly reaching out to me, and I'm not going through the pointless motions of 'polite' small talk. | |||

Be yourself, write your profile about yourself, what you like and what you can offer. Take pics of yourself for your profile. Narrow down your search and approach people that want similar things to you. Develop a bit of a thick skin, try to be nice and positive. Chip in on forums, be prepared to have your leg pulled.
