The old boiler....

is giving up the ghost...so I'm after some advice off the wise forumites (and I know I can't stop the loonies chipping in either)

Friend of mine has recommended Vaillant or Worcester boiler but I'm after a supplier/fitter, have got British Gas and Help-linkUK (Jonny Ball advertises it on the telly) quoting so any other recommendations??

Also decided I might as well have the bathroom remodelled whilst I'm at it so any suggestions for good mid range bathroom fitters (although I may just buy suite and have local plumber do it)

I will be looking on Google but thought I'd ask the rabble anyway

Have a wrested boiler now 15 years old and very reliable.

Service engineer tells me it should chug on for years as he can still get any parts it may need

Go and fit it for Caz, Dave. Bet you'd like a trip up Arse End. Their sheep are more robust.

Hi

Had problems with ours and had a discussion with our boiler guy. Look at the Bosch Worcester one - i think until the end of June they come with a complete 7yr warranty.

We were quoted approx 2.5K with a small amount of electrical 5 core cable work and complete flush of the old system.

Hope this helps!

Worcester Bosch boilers. Mine is about 15 years old and still going strong.

I also cannot recommend British Gas Homecare enough for keeping the thing in top shape.

Whatever you do don't get an isar/ideal. The one in this flat is 6 years old and packed up twice in the last 3 or 4 months. The gas guys who have come to fix it says it's about the worst on the market

Must be on a par with my Ferroli...

Just had a guy in to quote today and he tells me my current boiler is wrongly placed (in a cupboard over the bath) cos I can touch it while standing in water...so now do I keep boiler where it is and lose the bath (£2300) or have boiler moved to front of house and keep a bath (£3200)

I'm leaning towards losing the bath as I want one of those posh steam shower cabins.

Was a bit embarrassing as the guy was upstairs checking the bathroom and shouted down that he needed to look in my bedroom - which has a large naked canvas of me on the wall and my wand was on top of the duvet. Oops!

Aw well, another quote in tomorrow see what they come up with...note to self: hide wand

Did he give you the quote before or after seeing your wand? You may be getting a reduction for the potential of that wand.

Hmmmm, do you think it would work if I left an assortment of sex toys and accessories out on the duvet or might that scare the poor bugger off?

Actually the quote came after he'd been in my bedroom and also after we'd chatted about his wife's dramatic weight loss after a prolapsed uterus

Worcester Bosch all the way! Wouldn't recommend anything different. And if they do go wrong the after service is brilliant... They actually answer the phone! Shame I'm not closer I'm a self employed gas engineer / plumber

My wonderful Worcester boiler, that has given me over 15 years trouble-free service, is starting to need a big repair.

I want another Worcester boiler (LPG Combi) fitted - any Fab plumbers in the Caernarfon or N. Wales area?

Yes - you can service me at the same time if you fancy - lol! (Well, if you don't try.....)
