Nice one, OP!! Excellent news on the no gambling and bravo on no longer being beholden to the crazy interest rates. You just need bills and beer money now! Oh, and chips.

Just had a look and it’s £2.95 for regular chips. I know battered cod is expensive though.

Congrats on those two major milestones, OP!

My local would charge me £3.20 for a small bag, which is actually pretty reasonable as they're massive portions!

The potions must be tiny.

With the cost of a bag of chipping potatoes being about £20 on a good week. The peeler strips 10-20% depending on the bag, and the moisture loss from cooking and the shop is lucky to get 600g of chips from a 1kg of spuds. With all the costs associated with processing, cooking, and staff and all the rest. Chips are not the cheap bulk filler product anymore

Near Clacton

Fish and chips used to be the cheap quick meal grabbed on the way home from work but not anymore. I ordered 2 large cod and 1 small chips 1 medium. Neither cod was large merely a cod tail and the chips were dreadful poorly peeled soggy and greasy and I paid £23:75! This was the first time I used that chippy, sadly I was distracted by another customer at the time and didnt notice what I was being served up, but I was very disappointed when I got home.

I only have them at the seaside where I expect to pay a premium so I'm not sure what they go for locally.

Congratulations on the no gambling

American chips are british crisps. This may be a case of 2 nations speaking the same language (but different) WOLF.

If I go to chippy, I usually get the mini meal including peas . £4.99 or £2 for large chips. However, since I bought to air fryers I make my own if I do them fresh they come out superbly but the frozen ones of which are the best frozen for me are Marks and Spencer chunky chips.

£2.40 here! But the fish and sausages are more expensive Well done on not gambling! I packed up slots and online gambling… I get the occasional scratch card now, I did go completely cold Turkey but then I’d have blow outs a little scratch card every 2/3 weeks gets me through I hope to knock it on the head one day as I still waste 15/20£ a month not much but it would be much better off going on the mortgage payment or something worth while

It's £2.75 for chips £5.20 for fush and £3.40 for chip butty around here but is quite generous and both fish and chips are nice and crispy. You also get lots of lovely bits/scraps which can't be resisted. Very rarely have fish and chips but has to right when I do
