When you are feeling down/sad/tired etc...

What do you do to try and perk yourself up a bit?

What turns your frown upside down?

Glasgowish

Walking for a good few miles in the countryside or going for a run down by the river. Loud, happy music and wine help too.

I go for a run to get some fresh air and then talk to some friends. I have to make myself talk but it’s amazing how much better I feel afterwards.

Wirral

A natter to a mate

Doing something positive (a household chore or a bit of grooming or a task I've been putting off)

A mindfulness practice (I particularly like the ceremony of making a cup of loose leaf tea but treating every stage of it as a joyful celebration, than sitting in calm with myself and my feelings while I drink it)

Sitting in my window watching waves along the beach

Eating outdoors (a sandwich eaten sitting under a tree in the dappled light, or a flask of soup on a chilly day eaten on a park bench, a bag of chips eaten out of the paper in one of the wind shelters while the rain beats down, doesn't have to be a full-on picnic)

Giving myself a tiny treat

Ultimately just allowing myself to feel my feelings knowing they'll pass.
