"Ahem; M&S used to do an absolutely, jaw droppingly, mouth watering, Mississippi Mud Pie as I recall. Gooey as all hell and more the better for it! I haven’t had one for a few years though so am not sure if it’s still part of their stock ![]() I tried to look online but could only find cakes for delivery, like birthday cakes. I'm plucking from the shelves because I can't make them at the moment. Can't really go wrong with chocolate, although I know someone is making a chocolate orange cake. I would like to contribute more than just a McVities Jamaican Ginger cake or packets of Mr Kipling's.

"Sorry, but if you don't like cake talk, you shouldn't have opened the thread ![]() ![]() I'm a very average cake decorator but my sponge is usually nice. I'd like something a little more luxurious than the average cake.

Indeed, in terms of looks alone, they’re like the cake equivalent of a Lamborghini ![]() ![]()

"They are currently doing a raspberry ripple sponge cake which is nice. I'm not a massive fan of heavy buttercream but the tartness of the raspberry cuts through it a bit and tones down the sweetness. I'm a child when it comes to bright colours, and for my birthday my mate bought me the rainbow layer cake covered in hundreds and thousands. It looked amazing and was a nice enough sponge cake, but my high excitement when he delivered it (cake! colours! sprinkles! So very exciting!) faded as I really didn't think it was worth anything like the price he'd paid for it. Oh, they've a passion fruit Swiss roll with cream that is amazing, really good flavour on it and I'm sure it's under a fiver, and the frozen roulades are worth considering too (the toffee pecan one is never short on pecans)." They all sound lovely. I think I'll check out the fridges first, even though I can't eat cream. The raspberry ripples sounds great.

"I like their tins of small bites such as flapjack and rice Krispie cakes. " They did tubs of tea cakes one Christmas that were really nice. I want a couple of cakes to cut to have with tea, I didn't think of small bites too.

"The M&S near me do individual one person cakes, like chocolate muffin, Victoria sponge. The Victoria sponge one is delicious. They do a pack of 6 smallish cupcakes, vanilla, lemon and some kind of pink one. Or, they do slightly bigger cakes, like carrot cakes that you could get maybe 6 slices of. Or, they do really big fancy ones. I don't look at those so much so I don't know what the offerings are." 6 slice cakes? How big are the slices? Individual ones won't be any good they're for an afternoon tea party for 30+ people.
