Is this a taboo subject on a swingers website?

When was the last time someone did something romantic for you, or did you do something romantic for them? Did they know it was romantic?

What makes something romantic,… is it because it was done on the 14th feb?

Not sure if it counts as romantic but I was feeling down and a bit lost. So my ex wrote me a poem about my good points and my not so. It made me laugh and I needed that.. it was also quite sweet that some of the things he said were things I didn't remember till mentioned

Romance used to be seen when lovers sent letters to each other, comments on the Christmas cards and romantic gestures on valentines cards. In this fast life of texts and Snapchat, it isn’t quite so easy to see but it’s still there. Little gestures , opening a door , the morning kiss and cuddle, giving encouragement when someone feels nervous, but mostly being there for somebody when they are down

I don't think it's taboo. Less discussed, less likely to happen because of the nature of the site.

But not because it's bad. I think romance in general has fallen out of fashion somewhat.

The last romantic thing? On a first date with someone recently they bought a book I'd mentioned, very briefly and a good month or so ago now, and had wanted to read. And they wrote a little message for me inside.

I'm used to being the more observant one, remembering little things. That gesture really made me smile and gave me a fuzzy feeling.

Uncommon on a swingers site but surely not taboo.

I have many facets to my personality. I love long deep emotional conversations, stupid dirty talk, calm romantic candle lit meals and snuggles on a sofa, I also like to fuck. None of these things detracts from the others.

I don't remember the last time someone did something romantic for me. But I struggle to find people who will take as deep an interest in who I am as a person and ask me the questions needed to find out about me as I do them. Right now I crave that much more than romance and fucks are easy to come by.

It's the intent behind it, it's the saying to the other person "I'm thinking about you and you hold value to me" without saying it. I don't think it always has to be material - you can make romantic gestures. Spend time thinking about another and what they'd like, what would make them smile without spending a lot.

I guess it differs from friendship because of the depth/presence of romantic feelings there.

This reply! I'm not looking to enter a relationship with anyone currently. Far from it, almost the opposite! But I love going on dates, the romantic side of things. I have no shame in that. There's something to be said for that intimacy, for another person knowing you and you them. Or at least being open to learn you.

I guess for me I want to enjoy the romance without a romantic relationship. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Yes I am starting to ask that of future partners. Too many just assume it will be a quick social then the next time straight into a sexual meet. I'm not after monogamy but a true friend with a side helping of benefits. So I want to take it slower. That's not to say the first method hasn't worked for me in the past. I have made some wonderful fwbs in the past. Its all about communication.

Im an old school romantic, me.

I took the sammich maker away for our anniversary to a lovely place that had once won the Channel 4 show, Four in a Bed! I booked a room with two luxurious king sized beds, a shower you could fit half a dozen in and a four person hot tub! I paid someone else to feed the old girl, so no sammich making or washing up for her that day! We drank expensive and varied cocktails till the sun went down, then back to the hot tub for prosecco and naughty fun. We kept it quiet as the tub was adjacent to the restaurant, but it was interesting listening to the bants of the staff as they locked up and headed home. We had never been in a hot tub before and ermagerd! It takes a bit of working out how to have sex in one without emptying it, but it is worth the perserverence!

Unfortunately sammich maker isnt a drinker and the hot tub seemed to turn her into a soccer bore, now excited for the future of womens football following the Lionesses success. She also became irrationally possessive over the prosecco and she was being quite mean with my measures. It wasnt too long before she became so intoxicated that she ended up under the shower, eating complimentary biscuits and wondering why the Biscoff kept dissolving.

This is where my clever forward planning came in handy by booking a room with two beds (Pinocchio, you know the other couple didnt show up!). This meant i got a good nights sleep and sammich maker could starfish and thrash about to her hearts content. Which was nice.

Breakfast was interesting as i tucked into a dirty great plate of bacon, egg and black pudding while she enjoyed some coffee and paracetamol. My sammich maker is made of strong stuff, so before returning to regular life, we walked it off and had actual Sex on the Beach with a small audience of naked fappers. A veritable time to remember.

The very stuff that Mills and Boon is made from. True romance!

Perhaps it's more the deeper intimacy I crave, rather than romance. Not sure.

I've had people make romantic gestures that would mean something if I meant something to them.

My husband suggested we go out for dinner alone when he realised I'd had enough of his abuse and told me to find somewhere to book.

He wrote me a poem when I was severely depressed but still carried on his affair and the abuse.

I wouldn't know what real romance was.

"Im an old school romantic, me.

I took the sammich maker away for our anniversary to a lovely place that had once won the Channel 4 show, Four in a Bed! I booked a room with two luxurious king sized beds, a shower you could fit half a dozen in and a four person hot tub! I paid someone else to feed the old girl, so no sammich making or washing up for her that day! We drank expensive and varied cocktails till the sun went down, then back to the hot tub for prosecco and naughty fun. We kept it quiet as the tub was adjacent to the restaurant, but it was interesting listening to the bants of the staff as they locked up and headed home. We had never been in a hot tub before and ermagerd! It takes a bit of working out how to have sex in one without emptying it, but it is worth the perserverence!

Unfortunately sammich maker isnt a drinker and the hot tub seemed to turn her into a soccer bore, now excited for the future of womens football following the Lionesses success. She also became irrationally possessive over the prosecco and she was being quite mean with my measures. It wasnt too long before she became so intoxicated that she ended up under the shower, eating complimentary biscuits and wondering why the Biscoff kept dissolving.

This is where my clever forward planning came in handy by booking a room with two beds (Pinocchio, you know the other couple didnt show up!). This meant i got a good nights sleep and sammich maker could starfish and thrash about to her hearts content. Which was nice.

Breakfast was interesting as i tucked into a dirty great plate of bacon, egg and black pudding while she enjoyed some coffee and paracetamol. My sammich maker is made of strong stuff, so before returning to regular life, we walked it off and had actual Sex on the Beach with a small audience of naked fappers. A veritable time to remember.

My kids father used to put little love notes in my lunch for work and leave notes dotted around the place. I thought that was romantic. Turns out he’d also secretly joined a dating site and was messaging other women!! So now I appreciate more normal stuff like cooking me a meal, rubbing my feet, a cuppa in bed. And I also don’t like cut flowers. So they’re wasted on me.

I can be romantic, I have made mix tapes and gifted little things that folk have mentioned in the past that they like. But it’s very rare.

Yes, they have date night. I often used to have kids at mine for them to have quiet time. I'd taken his wife out few months earlier, to dinner and a show, and he kept moaning nobody ever took him on a date. So I did.

I suspect that many, if not most, of us would like to have deep levels of intimacy. Failing that, romance would be wonderful. Failing that, any sort of continuing relationship even if it lacks romance. Failing that, a good shag now and then. Failing that, a bad shag once every fifth of never. And for those of us where even that now seems out of reach no matter how we try - perhaps because of age, or gender uncertainties, or having loved and lost too many times, sinking through emotional damage below the waterline - there is just fabbing photos and memories.
