Warning on flash photography

Just watching the news and I think that just about every news programme now has the obligatory, "viewers are warned that this report contains flash photography"

I guess that it may affect people with epilepsy or some such condition but has anyone ever actually heard or known of someone having a fit after watching flashbulbs on telly?

I've seen people at events I've shot have epileptic fits from flash photography.

I'm more inclined to go into fits and bouts of tourettes if constipation street or easties come on when I'm in for dinner

People are unlikely to have epileptic fits when watching secondary flashes on a TV screen. Whilst next to the cameras at the scene it is a very real problem.

a friend of mine died through this years ago,he sat watching the flickering on the TV when they used to shut it down for the night,there is more to the story but essentialy thats what happened

Photosensitive epilepsy is rare and can be caused by flash photography or strobe lighting. Very few people with epilepsy die during or from a seizure. However it's a good idea to warn people to Reduce chances

No. But I do know someone had a one after a disco ( 20 yrs ago ) the lights set off a fit.

I think I'd have some sort of seizure in front of a flickering tv. Or a ts for that matter

Just to clarify terminology. People with epilepsy have either seizures or absences. It's not a fit as such. It can be set of by certain frequency of flashes or strobe lights or in a case above by the frequency of light flashing on a tv

I've had mine set off by a video of lightening at a concert. Not sure they used strobes too but it wasn't nice

They are not worried about peoples health...they are worried about the rent a writ brigade getting on their case

i used to suffer as a child and had seizures from the tv and also from driving through country lanes in the sun - the flickering of sunlight through the trees set it off - happily and fortunately all out grown now

I have absences and last week had to endure lights for some brain testing. Was bizarre. But at least I know I have a brain

All those warnings about flash photography and yet there's no warning about 'danger of permanent brain retardation' displayed before Britain's Got Talent...
