I was just going to say that, I just throw a load of grit on and leave it, clears in no time and safe.

Yup, unfortunately we keep on following their bad examples.

And that's partly some of the reason the schools close so often too. In my day if you fell over and broke something. You just waited for it to mend. Now if you fall over. Straight away ppl are looking for compensation. How times have changed.

has any private citizen actually been successfully sued for this or is it yet another myth

no matter

If we clear our drive way where does all the snow go but onto the verge and road gutter..I live on a bend and have to reverse onto the verge to get off my drive if the gutters were filled with cleared snow the sharp bend would become blocked.

Myth I'm afraid! perpetrated by people then being able to say it's health and safety gone mad. Actually it's shite.

No one in the uk has been successfully sued for this - by the way being sued is civil and health and safety violations are a criminal offence so you don't get sued for breaking health and safety legislation you get prosecuted. Further you would get sued in North America (in most states and provinces) for NOT clearing the path. Bah humbug etc

We have sent our 8yr old Daughter out the front with a snow shovel, well not strictly true, I sent her older brother out but he gave up after 30 seconds and she took over. She has done a much better job than he ever would

prefer it when people dont clear the paths .. sometimes when they do this and it freezes quickly it ends up more dangerous than it was with the snow on it
