I'm hopefully going on 2, only in the role of an ally, but I'm still looking forward to it.

"Birmingham was great "

Was it? All friendly and no trouble?? I only ever get to go to small marches, and only go to support my child. Would love for them to go to a bigger event one day but worry that there might be fights or something

I've been to many over the years. Here and abroad. Plenty of police about. Never seen trouble. Keep with the crowds.

Well anyone who is going, I hope you have an awesome time. They are making more of an effort with pride events in Cornwall now, which can only be a good thing I think.

Please attend some provincial pride events

The big city events are, in true British style, an excuse for many to get pissed up and declare that you are 'inclusive' after watching a parade of Top100 companies demonstrate how 'inclusive' they are too cos they have some gay staff

Visibility is important, but I don't think people in places like Brighton and Manchester need the education on the whole

It is in the provinces where you can make a difference - you know the ones where you stand out by being supportive of 'difference', where there are no big name bands or celebrity Drag Queens

But where's the fun in that eh?

Remember: Pride is a protest, not a party!

Pride has not been a protest for very many years now.

It is business.

Absolutely agree with this

Not been to Manchester Pride in years but thinking about going to a different festival instead.

Also Sparkle for the Trans celebration that I’ve managed to attend for the last three years. No entry fee to access the Manchester Village and gardens. well worth visiting if you’re a supporter of the Trans community.

PRIDE

It was not brought to you by Absolute Vodka & T Mobile.

It was brought to you by drag queens and Trans women hurling bricks at harassment by the police.

By lesbians and compassionate women nursing men sick and dying with Aids in the face of intentional neglect by governments and leaders.

Think on.

This is not what it should be...

It is big business fleecing you.

Pride was not born out of a need to celebrate and show off being gay but as a demonstration to fight for a way to to be accepted and live safely in society.

For people who ask why there is no straight pride, it is because , thankfully, you never needed one.

Oh, I hope your oldest enjoys it as much as mine does.

Went to my second yesterday, straight by the royal albert bridge, so really couldn't beat the location.

Yes yes yes, I live next to the village party in Brighton, free tickets it would be rude not to go, also pretty annoying if I wasn’t attending

I want to go to my local one - it's my first time since coming out properly and asserting my bisexuality as a part of my core identity, rather than just a titillating irrelevance. I'm too chicken to go on my own though.

I went to my first one (many years ago) on my own and I was nervous as hell. But within no time I was having the time of my life and everyone was so warm and welcoming. Now I think nothing of going on my own. So I would say just go for it, you will have a great time x
