I work from home but my wife cycles to work regularly (3-4 miles).

She says she's never seen another woman cycling, only men.

When I'm working at home(Manchester) I always try to cycle, especially if its in the city. It's actually quicker than getting the bus or driving.

Only about 6 miles each way. I'm lucky that it's 90% bike path. Leave the big mileage for the weekend

I worked with a woman that has been cycling to work for years but you were tight that you don't see many.

We were talking about it the other day. Weird that it's mostly men.

Then again everyone she works with thinks she's nuts cycling to work, especially in winter.

17-18 miles each way depending on which way I go. 2-3 times a week - free training miles and saves on fuel!!

About 7 years ago I did for a bit which was 5 miles each way. Had an absolutely rubbish bike with only like 2 gears haha

There was one big part which was cycle friendly but actually in the city centre it was so stressful and not so friendly for bikes. I think it's changed a bit now. But I ended up losing the bike

I don't generally enjoy cycling but actually it was good way to keep fit

I would love to, but I worked out the route and is about 2 1/2 hours so that is a no, but if I get the chance I do it on the weekend. It’s a great workout for the thighs. And I am only on a single speed so less hassle.

I do a 13 mile each way commute once or twice a week in the summer. It's nice as the cycle path goes along the river so I see lots of wildlife along the way. Downside is that it can be windy, and it is always a headwind!

Irrelevant

On and off. When I first started my apprenticeship I cycled 15 miles each way for work when I want in college until I learnt to drive but used to do it occasionally afterwards if the weather was nice. More recently I used to work 40 miles away so would sometimes get a train part way and cycle the rest (about 12 miles) coming home I'd either just do the 12 miles or sometimes to a further station or even the full journey. If I was feeling really energetic I'd throw in the Bwlch, a 500 meter climb on the way home. I now work from home unless I'm visiting customers so my only cycling is for leisure. Did a quick 20 miles this afternoon.

I do, but it's only 20 minutes each way using scenic canal routes, or 10 minutes smashing straight across parks, carparks, roads, bridges and down stairs a few times or blazing through the town centre.

About once a week, either 10 miles on busy roads (if I leave late) or 14 miles along canals.

Here's a sentence you might not be expecting...

The wildlife in Smethwick is fabulous. A heron sometimes flies alongside me, I've also seen kingfishers and foxes if I leave home early

I used to. 15ish each way on the ebike.

Problem was, I couldn’t just relax and enjoy the assist. I just had to thrash the life out of it.

Before that I used a hybrid on the same hilly, mostly off-road route.

Nowadays I just stagger to the sofa with a brew.

A good ebike is designed to give assistance with pedling.

"A good ebike is designed to give assistance with pedling."

They vary quite a bit. Mine is pretty old school but in maximum assist kicks out 250watts alongside my 150watt pootle power.

Apparently we managed a combined 1kW up a hill and eventually snapped the chain

My commute is a measly two miles, so i use my heavy singlespeed with panniers.

Great town bike, ride every day in any weather, snow isn't a problem although ice can be tricky.
