Can someone for the life of me explain why fake profiles come on in fake profiles. I mean what's thier motive or gain from it?

I've had loads the last few weeks . Asking me personal questions that no one normally asks. I'm beginning to get a bit uneasy thinking "is it someone I know"? because the questions are eyebrow raising questions. I guess that's the net for you in reality sadly though.

Answers on a post card please

When you realise, that some people will always be assholes. You will stop worrying about stuff like this.

It the same way I wonder why people online use AIM ASSIST and cheat mods when gaming. I just don’t see the satisfaction when you win because you had every cheating fuckin’ advantage over me. .., even better when they lose.

Why do you get fake profiles?

Why do you get scam calls?

Why do you get scam emails?

Why is the price of fuel a scam?

Why do poloticians lie?

I would worry about it, if you can spot it then you'll be fine.

Just questions others don't ask such as : who do I talk to mostly, who do I like the most, am I meeting anyone at the min ? Asking for my number which I do give out once I've established they are genuine which is usually not so hard to tell. And asking to meet me, but constantly asking and thats just strange behaviour for a girl to sort of pester to meet on here. Numerous little things that I just seem odd

Why continue to chat if you suspect they are fake. Just ignore them or block them.

Fake profiles are easy enough to spot why people do it I don't know but I have been told by one woman who has at least 2 profiles fake profiles she does it to find out if men are lying to her or to distract women away from guys she's interested in. It's a bit sad really.

I am not saying they are or are not fake profiles.

However the myth that woman don’t message first is just that. A myth. I have been messaged and winked at and originally it made me question if they were real given all the posts on not replied to messages etc etc.

I think men and women, on the whole, type differently. Different styles.

I have no problem saying “I’ve been catfished in the past please can we have a quick call or use another app or even take a photo holding something up”.

Some say no, and that’s their right, doesn’t mean they are fake, I imagine that I am questioning it may upset them, but some understand and do it

Some people like to pretend they are someone or something they aren't.

Based on the number of threads on this subject some people only seem to engage with those who are pretending to be someone or something they aren't.

Well I have to chat to an extent and give the benefit of the doubt.

I think my settings are a lot stricter for messages now thankfully

Noooo mate I'm not saying about the woman messaging first. I've had women message me first many times. What I'm saying is this 1 was O.T.T and bombarding me with messages and pestering constantly for my number, but it wasn't just she asked now and then. Every message before I blocked her and it takes a lot for me to block someone. I had it sort of happen on Tinder years ago and it turned out to be a guy pretending to be a a girl. Gave her " well him " my number thinking it was a girl and vids came through to my WhatsApp of a guy just wanking and stuff haha he admitted in the end he was a married man, but was gay and his wife didn't know and he got off on straight guys online. The wonderful world of the Internet. Amusing if anything

If you carry on talking to them you might find out what they're after.

I wouldn't give out actual personal information or your phone number though.

Make up a new you just for the fakes

When I come across men using fake details on other apps I can't help wanting to try to find out who they really are and what they want.

Some are obvious scammers like the cryptocurrency investors who say they can make me a millionaire if I give them £200 to invest lol

There's usually either a financial motive or sexual one.

Really??? That sounds like way too much effort to me, I can just about manage this one profile most days, can't imagine trying to keep track of who I am supposed to be on different profiles I'd get myself into a right mess!

We’ve not knowingly come across fake profiles. We don’t engage in profiles that aren’t fit for purpose anyway and we don’t chat to people unless we are friends, want to meet or are organising a party.

I don’t understand how people get involved with so many fake profiles. I’d be revising how I used my FAB account if so many people who are fake are getting through your red flag barriers

It's going to be different for each of them but they get a sense of power, from deceit, perhaps allaying their insecurities momentarily.

Obviously they may get some pleasure, indirectly feeling sexual stimulation.

Some may want to hurt others, perhaps a projection of the hurt they received from others.

It may,to some who don't accept they're not 100% straight, give them some bisexual satisfaction.

Your not going to get a fake profile admit why they do it. The likelihood is they're lonely, get a kick out of pretending to be a Woman or Couple and swapping messages. It's good that you're savvy enough to spot them
