Rumours surrounding his funeral plans are that Clyde is going to tan his hide, and leave it hanging on the shed.

All together now...

I don't get the need to see death, or to celebrate it. This is a tragedy in my eyes. I saw him as a kid, and he actually grew up in Cardiff and liked to come here quite a lot. Later in life me and some flatmates used to play his Greatest Hits quite a lot for a laugh.

What transpired was terrible and so horrible to hear. I just see it as immensely sad, not anything to celebrate at all. pt

Mainly because his crimes occurred abroad or he was convicted under old sentencing rules because convictions are based on the era when the crime happened for sex crimes, I believe?

Sad really and his sentence ( paid his dues??) just goes to show how as a society how little we value children and do so little to protect them even when they are caught and the same old mantra is trotted out everytime " Lessons will be learnt et etc etc " and a good friend of mine served more time for a burgalary than Rolf did ?? xx

Sentencing is a farce all round, most barely do more than a 3rd of their sentence inside & even murderers can be out in 12/14yrs.

You should do the time in Prison & do longer if not behaving.

I didn’t say it like you were full of shit. I said that you were factually incorrect, and then gave my opinion on why people are celebrating.

I got the information from his autobiography (which was for free online. I wouldn’t pay a penny for it) not Wikipedia. I’m presuming that his memory of his own life was better than “folklore” from people in your area.

It’s a forum and you are as entitled to post your comment as I am to point out its inaccuracies.

I refrained from giving my personal opinion on your post.

-Your opinion felt pretty clear to me. You pluralise "inaccuracies" so what was the other then?? He never shut about Cardiff and the time he spent there. I saw him in Cardiff. Apparently he officially came to UK in his early 20's from what I've just read, not 30.

Anyway I was born in 1970 and remember the 70's all too well, you've read some free shit off the net and thought you'd hide your 'refrained' opinion in a somewhat snotty couple of posts.

The “free shit” was his own words! But obviously you know better. And as another post said, are you really trying to take the moral high ground over a convicted offender like Harris.

So you’re saddened because it ruined your memory of playing his records. And some people you know incorrectly remember him living there! So what! The man ruined children’s lives.

He’s dead. Good riddance.

"I don't get the need to see death, or to celebrate it. This is a tragedy in my eyes. I saw him as a kid, and he actually grew up in Cardiff and liked to come here quite a lot. Later in life me and some flatmates used to play his Greatest Hits quite a lot for a laugh.

What transpired was terrible and so horrible to hear. I just see it as immensely sad, not anything to celebrate at all. pt

No he didn’t. His parents were from Cardiff. He grew up in Australia. Went to school and uni in Australia. He was nearly 30 when he moved to the UK

It’s only sad for the children whose childhood he stole. That’s why people would celebrate.

-Hang on. Don't do the 'No.' thing like I'm full of shit - you've just been on Wikipedia that is all. Harris used to talk about Claude Road all the time, and visiting Roath Park as a child. It's quite a big road in Cardiff, I know quite a few people who have lived on it. It's always been part of Cardiff folk-law. Maybe they were back here all the time? I'm not going to double check, although I think it probably was from visiting here a lot now I think back about it. But so what? He was part of MY childhood. Not everyone has the same heavy-handed way of dealing with these things. That's all.

Personally I hope it was painful and he suffered. Still not enough in my eyes.

Hard to believe how these folk used their fame to groom and abuse. Should have thrown the key away and not released from prison

I used to watch his art programme as a youngster...I also have seen him at Glastonbury, first on the other stage then the crowds where so big they had to put him on the main stage...it really sickened me when it all came out exactly what he is/was...a dirty pedophile scum...should have died in prison and been tortured for what he'd done I hope all his victims really do find peace for what he did to them!!

What celebrity is next for been exposed as a dirty scum pedophile?? Cos' there will be another one

Anyone want to buy a Rolf original? The palace have a few and Andrew has a whole collection as well as a Jim'll fix it badge for sale. Funny how many of Charles and Liz's friends and family share a common interest.

Rolf Harris was a talented guy who bettered himself by moving to England, but his fame, charm and power enabled him to express the darkest aspects of his complex personality; he was a paedophile, that he managed to keep hidden for decades.

Why was he a person who had a sexual preference for pre-pubescent girls?

Who knows. But it is a deviant sexual preference that is abhorred by society, and punished when proven in court.
