Eddie Money (RIP), on the song "Shakin'"

sang: " Her tits were shakin'".

He said in an interview that he thought it would be funny to add it in as radio stations would play & not realise it till it was too late. By then they couldn't do anything about it! His manager was furious as he felt it could have been a top 5 hit had he not done it.

If ya don't believe - listen carefully a little after 1:02. They'll still be shakin....

I'd say they were nut-job conspiracy theories rather than "urban myths", mainly the work of American conspiracy theorists (what a surprise) - and yes, there were many, including the one where Paul McCartney was supposedely killed in a car accident in 1966.

A great pub quiz question: What links Tommy Steele, Randall and Hopkirk (deceased) and Pink Floyd?

Little White Bull was a hit for Tommy Steele which was co-written by Mike Pratt who played Randall in Randall and Hopkirk (deceased), Mike Pratts son is Guy Pratt who played bass for Pink Floyd on their last two tours and the Division Bell album.

Always liked that fun link.

Amen Brother by The Winstons, is the most sampled song in history.

Featuring about 6 seconds of a drum break that went on to be the backbone of entire genres of music including Hip-Hop, Dnb/Jungle, Hardcore and countless others.

The Drummer responsible, Gregory C. Coleman, lived his life unaware of the widespread use of his drumming, and how remarkably influential he was on music.

He died homeless and in poverty 2006... never knowing what a legacy he left behind.

6 seconds that changed music.

For free performances it’s Rod Stewart if Wikipedia is to be believed, followed by Jean-Michel Jarre’s 1997 Moscow show. Both were estimated to have attracted over 3.5 million (!) people. Jarre also holds the record for numbers of performances with over 1 million attendees, with five separate shows.

Can't exactly claim this as a 'fact' as its been a while since i saw it, but theres a documentary about Roy Orbison which details how The Travelling Wilberries came about...which goes something along the lines of this

So Jeff Lynn (of ELO) was producing an album for Roy and they decided they needed a certain instrument they didn't have. Jeff just happens to live next to George Harrison, so they popped round as he thought George might have one they could borrow and start chatting about the recording.

While they were there, the phone rings and its Tom Petty- so naturally, they suggest he pops over to join in the party, Tom then suggests they get Bob Dylan to pop over too, as its very much his sort of thing and he's a big Orbison fan...one jamming session later and the rest is history (or slightly misremembered facts in this case- go find the documentary as its actually rather good, but also very sad due to some of Roys appalling bad luck )

"The Beatles never recorded in Abbey Road Studios (true)"

The popular myth arises from the fact that two tracks from their album "Abbey Road" were recorded at Trident Studio because during that week Abbey Road was closed for building improvements.

The remaining tracks on that album were recorded at Abbey Road, as were 190-ish of their catalogue

"Kate Bush is a genius and a true child prodigy

So was Mozart

But Kate Bush is much prettier than Mozart ever was

IMHO "

Not much of a revelation. Kate Bush is much prettier than anyone else ever (with the possible exception of Laura Marling)

After three fantastic collaborations with arranger Gil Evans (along with the somewhat aborted Quiet Nights LP) and several acclaimed Second Great Quintet recordings which prefigured the rise of Jazz-Fusion, Columbia Records approached the legendarily abrasive Miles Davis with a fantastic new idea.

Davis and Evans had pushed the boundaries of Cool Jazz. They had adapted Gershwin for the modern era. They had explored flamenco and the famous Concierto de Aranjuez. Surely an adaptation of the Doctor Doolittle soundtrack would be a best-seller?

You can imagine Davis' reaction – and the '67 film was actually an infamous flop. Still, there's a parallel universe in which, rather than laying the foundations for Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson and On The Corner, Miles rounded out his Gil Evans collaborations with a rousing interpretation of Talk to the Animals!

The last song written by Buddy Holly (You're the One) was written on a bet. Bet was he couldn't write a hit song in under 20 minutes and he wrote it in under 15. Waylon Jennings and Ray Corbin have co-writing credit because they randomly started to clap along when Buddy sang it the first time so they "created" the rhythm part of the music.

Oh Yeah, Uh Huh by Col Joye was the first time a typewriter was used as the percussion for a song recording. Story goes, the engineer couldn't get the drum sound he wanted and broke into the office nicking the typewriter.

There is a drum sample from a band called the Winstons, called the amen break. It's from a track called amen brother which itselfwas a b side song. Its a 7 second drum solo.

It has been used in more than 5000 tracks so far and is the most used sample in music history.

You most likely have heard a song which utilises this beaut of the drummers art.
