Lifelong Arsenal fan licking his wounds here ….but after admiring Man City’s demolition of everyone before them in recent games does it worry you that we are going to end up like the German or French ligue1 with just one team running away with it, apologies to all those with no interest, move along nothing to see

No as they are facing 115 charges for financial irregularities and have already paid £30m to UEFA for a non-contested fine for financial fair play only reason they aren’t banned is because they have good lawyers that took UEFA to the CAS in Switzerland. Football’s version of Lance Armstrong everything they’ve won is tainted and will be stripped eventually.

That’s what I’m hoping, Chelsea have a decent manager finally and Liverpool Man Utd and arsenal will be there or thereabouts, Brighton and Newcastle possibly too but I am worried with the amount of money pep has at his disposal

Thing is with what pep has done it has literally raised the bar 90 plus points will only get you second, I’m pretty sure over the next couple of years we will see English clubs dominate the European leagues because he has raised the bar

I'm not overly concerned - football's always been cyclical with one team often dominant for periods. Liverpool in the 80s; Man U under Ferguson...

There was a time when it looked like the 'Big 6' might sew up the top 4 themselves for ever more in some oligarchy, but we seem to be taking it in turns to implode which keeps giving "smaller" clubs a chance to break in...

If I’m honest I fear Chelsea next season already, poch is a top manager and the only reason he didn’t get anything at spurs is because Levy likes to be in charge, crazy squad numbers too, might take a couple of seasons but you will be back up there

It's because it's all about the money now and the richest teams will dominate. Gone are the days when smaller clubs could have a good season and achieve things. Look at some of the teams who won the old European cup. Those days are gone and it's always the same old faces, it's caused me to fall out of love with the game i used to adore.

Yep. The only way my team could compete for more than one season at a time would be to get new owners like Chelsea in the past, City now or Newcastle in the future. If they did, I'd hate it and probably move on to my old non-league team.

Liverpool and even Leicester have proved it can be done by peaking in the way that Olympic athletes do (4 year cycle?) but even medium term success cannot be achieved against teams who ignore FFP rules.

I'd much rather a more equal playing field where different teams could have even a chance of success

I am a rangers fan, and still happy to be but football in general for me has lost it's excitement. Even 2 decades ago when we were on top it was getting boring. The same teams winning the same things year in year out is monotonous

It all depends on the players but I do worry it will be like this for the next few years. Where City has everyone beat is that they only ever need to sign one or two players a window to keep standards up whereas other clubs need massive rebuilds of 5 or 6 new players.

Could always hope for Pep to leave but City is literally set up for him to do his thing and can't see him going anywhere else. Some teams might nick the odd PL one year like Liverpool but I can really see them dominating for a while, the cheating cunts

I hope that doesn't happen and they end up having to pay loads of fines, sell players and have a transfer ban for about 5 years to even things up a little.

It's crazy the team they have managed to put together and there's no way they done that without fiddling the books in a major way

As a Liverpool fan this is massively my concern.

For 4 out of the last 6 seasons we have done everything we could to compete with City and have come close, but at the cost of having a season of irrelevance and burnout.

We have arguably one of the absolute best managers in world football and a talented group of players, but the effort required to sustain the levels required without the funding that City have is physically and mentally exhausting for the players and coaching staff.

Arsenal are now seen as failures this season, similarly to how Liverpool have been viewed in recent seasons, but if you were to take the points these apparent failures have gained in a season and compare it to what would’ve won the league 10 or even less years ago, you can see that it’s remarkable they even got close.

City spent massively to reach an unprecedented high level, and can now spend far less to maintain that level. Nobody else has a chance to get there AND stay there

Definitely and although it was tantalisingly close you always knew city would finish strongly.

It's amazing what a shit load of money and a very good manager can achieve.

But I'm not going to knock city harshly as let's be they have paid their dues gone all the way to the bottom and back up again and play with style and panache without the arrogance of the red lot up the road.

As said football is cyclical and as an arsenal fan of many years I know we have always been there or thereabouts in the league and will come good again.

We are one of two teams that have never been relegated from the top flight that's an achievement in itself.

Man city will only stay on top as long as pep is there.

The thing you're concerned about is the exact thing that all fans of clubs outside the "Big 6" are already experiencing.

The English premier league is a closed shop at the top end. The gap between the big money clubs and the rest of the league is growing all the time. There just happens to be a secondary gulf developing right at the very top and you're just worried that arsenal are being left behind by Manchester City. But the truth is you'll still be miles ahead of the rest of the premier league every season.

You're just getting a taste of what fans of the "other 14" experience every season

Unless there is a blip the league is won by only one or possibly two teams on a regular basis.

Good luck to man city they deserve the title. They have the best striker in the world at the moment. Next season I think we will see that it's not just nan city running away with the title again. I can see it being much closer between the top 6 or 7 teams and it's going to be the most consistent team that wins. Being a Chelsea fan I'm hoping it's us after our dismissal season.
