"We preserve our life with the death of others. In a dead thing insensate life remains which, when it is reunited with the stomachs of the living, regains sensitive and intellectual life" - Leonardo Da Vinci

He said this literally about consuming other humans......

From Notebooks,

'We make our life by the death of others. In dead matter there remains insensate life, which, on being united to the stomachs of living things, resumes a life of the senses and the intellect.'

It's an observation on the medical use of ground blood typically (and other things too admittedly) and the ability to heal. It's not food!!! Blood transfusion happens today, just in a different way. In Wales we have to opt out of organ donation. Drinking mother's milk isn't cannibalism, neither is chewing your snobs. It's just about medicine, which was always an interest of his. pt

cannibalism (to be more concise) is the eating of one's species own flesh for food.
