What a horrible thing cramp is. I got it last night on the inside of my thigh. I hopped out of bed and had to hobble round the house trying not to wake the others.

Anyone got any good cures for it?

Made me smile, I've been getting cramps so often recently I've looked at doing some pliates classes to try and become a bit more flexible, it's no fun cramping during some of our more fun activities. The loud groans are no longer encouragement to continue but rather a clear signal to stop and move a safe distance away.

Loads of people have recommended tonic water to me as it contains quinine which is ment to help, with me I think it's probably a result of several factors chocolate being the main culprit

The biggest cause of cramps is low sodium levels, which is why they're more common after exercise, low sodium diets cause it too.

The sodium does add up. I don't do much in the way of salts on food and stay away from salty food due to it giving me blisters on the roof of my mouth.

Yesterday I had been out sledging for 5 hours, and running up and down hills.

You can get stuff from the chemist that helps re-balance your electrolyte levels, its called Diarlyte (sp?). Also good if you've had a bout of the trots!

Eurgh it tastes like crap too lol

For a home remedy just make some really weak squash, warm it up and put a pinch of salt in it x

Thats good to know...haha, i get it occasionally when laid down, the worst thing is you can feel it coming! Swimming starts it off too after about 20 lengths!!

Will try the tonic water and Lucozade approach

Indian tonic water has Quinn in it which helps stop cramps, also found steaming veg instead of boiling helps.
