How good are you at being in the moment, living life in the present?

Or do you have a tendency to live in the past, comparing back, not moving forward, held back?

Or do you have a tendency to rush ahead in your thoughts, moving the future ahead visualising it, anticipating, letting it all run away from you?

Carlisle usually

I'm very much a present person.

The past has it's place as a learning experience. But isn't something to focus on for long periods.

I certainly enjoy the anticipation and build up of looking to the future plans. But when I'm with someone it's only the moment we're in that matters.

All over

Probably a bit of each at times. Past to reflect and learn from, present to act upon accordingly, future to plan, set some goals as well as things to look forward to

In therapy I have learned to live in the moment. But I can and have been consumed by the past and exciting thoughts about the future at times.

Present and future

I've learned that nothing good comes from living in the past....Going over old ground, mulling over past mistakes and wrong decisions don't help you focus in the present. Live it, learn it and move on, move forward because it is all you can do x

I was once told that living tied to the past was depression, and living tied to the future was anxiety, and the healthy space was in the moment.

I live in a present moment. Like this very moment. You can’t change the past so take it as an experience and learning opportunity, and the future is not promised.

your wildest dreams,

I was just discussing this very thing with a friend this morning.

The past, although has some influence on who we are and what we do, it’s un changeable, it’s been and it’s gone. The future, no matter how carefully you plan, doesn’t always turn out the way you want it to. Life is full of unknowns that can suddenly influence things and change plans and hopes for the future. So, for me the obvious only choice is living right now, finding the silver lining in each situation, in each moment and taking Joy in that. I find it leaves me happiest and most fulfilled.

The past is history, The future is a mystery, But now, now is a gift That's why we call it the present .

The past is your own encyclopaedia to dip into fun memories past learning .

The future is your workshop to create build and shape your dreams .

Now is your daily living your normal functioning self , learning broadening your experience . Do something everyday for yourself no matter how small .

This.

The past is great for learning from and evaluating. The present is where focus should be as hey - you might get hit by a bus tomorrow.

The future is never guaranteed.

What I've learnt is this...

If I stand with one foot in the future, and one foot in the past. I'm.pissing on the present..

Keep it in the day as we only really have this 24 hrs that is with us, yesterday is gone tomorrow isint here so why worry about either

Living in the past unless able to do anything about it, it's pointless. doesn't stop me living in the presence and fulfilling my enjoyment

Nowadays I tend to live in the present.

I’ve never really looked too far into the future and the older I’ve got tbh it’s less appealing to do so.

The past, I don’t subscribe to “the good ole days” were so much better thought process as some things were utter shite! but I do get enjoyment from music & films from decades ago.

The past is the past and should be left at that.

Why you’d look back and wish you could have done things differently is beyond me.

Why wouldn’t you look forward to the things you do have a chance to do right.

My experience was I had to look back to move forward, and understand how my lifes experiences, that were traumatic in nature, then influenced the decisions I made, until i did that I didn't make any diffrent choices. Thr past can't be changed but it can be a great tool to affect change in the present.

I used to live in the past until I realised 8 or 9 years ago that I was stuck there so I escaped and haven't really looked back since.

I can only be present in the moment and don't anticipate or get excited about future events.

I've felt like that for years but didn't know it had a name until about 3 or 4 years ago I discovered it's called Anhedonia.

I'm not on the extreme end of the spectrum and I'm good at organising upcoming events but can't be invested in them until they actually happen.

I've no real idea what living in the past or present means. I understand the idea of planning for the future but that's about it

Past is gone, if you live their you will only make the same mistakes. The future will take care of itself, only the now exists. This is the only place you can live.

Thats why it is called PRESENT (a gift) enjoy your moment, what had happened cannot be changed it was learning not to be repeated in future.
