I think it is (probably down to certain acts, crossover especially) but maybe not enough to have so many exclusive fans as such. I haven't noticed it on the forum's song threads so much. pt

I love country music! I’m not embarrassed to say as a child/teenager me and my beautiful gran used to go to country dancing lessons haha. My taste in music is quite eclectic though

I keep thinking about going to then. The people you meet are so friendly at country music events. Part of what made me fall in love with the music.

"Just wondered if anyone else is a lover of country music, it seems to be growing and growing in the UK. "

Went to a "roots country" festie last summer on a whim and was blown away by how good the music was.

Not your usual shite about eagles freedom and pick up trucks but genuine heartfelt down and dirty stuff.

I've been a fan of people like Blaze Foley and Lucinda Willams for a while but always thought they were the outliers of that scene - turns out there are some amazing artists in that genre.

As well as the above, check out The Mary Lee Family Band for what they call Dark Hoedown - awesome!

Alt Country (which I particularly like) is considered to be invented in the mid-80's by a British band who later went to America..

Fear and Whiskey - The Mekons (a fantastic album)

I think Drive By Truckers (are typical alt country band) are great too.

A few years ago I saw Amy Rigby with (her now husband) Wreckless Eric (yes wow) in a smallish place in Bristol, and afterwards, when I told her how great it was to see two of my favourite acts in one go, she told me she once saw Dwight Yoakam and Lucinda Williams!

I don't mind Yoakam but I love Lucinda Williams especially. She is kind of like Bonnie Raitt, a singer-songwriter with an electric country band. In America she would be arena I think, but over here - I don't know.

glasgow-ish

Tim McGraw got me into it and I like a lot of modern country from likes of Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, Luke Combes, Lainey Wilson, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Dierks Bentley.

Lainey Wilson and ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ is brilliant and I loved ‘Buy Dirt’ by Jordan Davies

Spotify is great for the very nearly Nashville playlist which includes some pop. Top 50 and Hot Country playlists are good too

Love country music. Old school scores big points too. Cash, Parton, Loretta, Williams all the way to Kieth Urban, Brad Paisley, Tim Hicks, Garth Brooks, Tim Stapleton.

I saw Shania in Vegas and am aching to see her again.

Good thread!!

I’ve watched it soooo many times since you mentioned as it blew my mind!

Try watching that and Interstellar back to back!

Actually helped in a recent debate I had with some Jehovah’s that stopped by. They went down the “what created time?” route and when I mentioned the black hole theory they were gobsmacked, but genuinely intrigued.

I know exactly what you mean... I only just bought the blu fairly recently and I'm watching it all the time. It stuns me. The more I watch, the more I understand what he's insinuating, but the beach part throws me every time because it leads you to a relativity dead end.

So glad you enjoyed mate

Cheesy but brilliant!

I’ve always listened to country, as my folks listened to a lot. The older stuff, Kenny Rogers. Dolly, Loretta Lynn, that kinda thing. Now it’s more the modern stuff.

Someone mentioned the Whistling Donkeys. Only discovered them lately, they’re brilliant!
