"Northumbria Police said that in the 24 hours to Saturday morning, it had 70 calls reporting snowballs being thrown at people, cars or houses."

What the hell is wrong with people ? 70 calls to the police because people were throwing snowballs!!!

Today, en-route to see my Mother, there were about 100 kids with sledges, plastic sheets and anything else they could find to play in the snow on Stakeford bank - it was so refreshing to see a bunch of kids out and about, enjoying the snow, fresh air and companionship of other kids. Isn't it time for people to stop being so stuffy and allow kids to be kids .... ???

I thought this thread was about a snowman fetish. Never mind.

what if its a group of kids bullying one kid, or terrorising an old couple for no reason? I think you will find those 70 calls were probably all justified. 70 calls out of a couple of million people playing in the snow over the past couple of days seems that people are not stuffy and kids are being just kids.

Well I did see a pile of snow by the side of someone's house with a notice beside it.

The notice read, "Snowmen for sale - self assembly required"

think its a case of at the right time, the right place and the right person..

if your elderly or infirm etc and have just ventured out the last thing that you would welcome is kids chucking a snowball at you..

also if driving a car etc, bit of a distraction at best..

But I don't think there would have been a couple of million people throwing snowballs to be honest - it's the North East News ffs, we don't have a couple of million people living here, and even if we did, to suggest that every single one of them was throwing snowballs ......... well that would be a bit of a pisstake

Snowballs are ok until they stick rocks inside them, as happened to a pensioner yesterday near me. It put her in hospital and she was stood on her doorstep at the time.
