A person with XX chromosone. People can identify as what ever gender they like.

Id do my best to use somebodies preferred pronouns. But I think DNA matters. It objective not subjective. If DNA didn't matter then all world records in woman's sport would be broken by trans women and that would diminish a biological woman's rights.

Well, if you said just XX, then no.

Fortunately we don't live in such a black and white world. Even if it is a problem in professional sport, that shouldn't translate to anywhere else. The culture wars against trans people are fucking disgusting.

These days you're not allowed to have a view without people saying you have Ill intent. You can respect people as a human being even if you hold a different view about something personal. What about the woman who still had a penis, was in prison for abusing a woamn and then got put in a woman's prison? And at what point does someone who identifies as a woman be allowed in a woman's changing room? It's not as straight forward as saying if you tell people you identity as a woman you are one. It can't be as subjective as that (in my opinion).

Ok, good for you.

I don't know any solution that wouldn't cause disproportionate harm (how are any of these things policed?). I also don't know why the focus is on a tiny minority when the vast majority of perpetrators of most crimes, statistically, are cisgender men. (No, not men in dresses or men who claim to be trans. Just men.)

Funnily, no one ever suggests attaching restrictions where the harm is. They go after a tiny minority.

Sport is an emotive issue - the majority of trans sporting folk state they want a level playing field. And that's that they wish to compete within their own right... Prison is another emotive issue as if you're pre op of either sex, you're going to be on a segregation wing

Without going into too much detail as i am no means a expert but gender identity is on a spectrum and doesnt fall into the traditional binary (male and female) spectrum. Often some people will fall somewhere between the two and then prefer to identify as non binary for example and use different pronouns to match how they feel about themselves

a man that has altered the external part of his body to look like a woman "I hate this term trans woman" does not have any of those he is not a woman he is a MAN and produces testosterone.

generally, there is only a need to include the Cisgender label when discussing gender identities. In a discussion about men identifying as women so they can go into the female changing rooms for example.

Cisgender means a person who identifies as they were assigned at birth.

Cal

Thanks pal I thought we was just male or female etc kinda don't get the need say that persons cisgender it's like it's a man or it's a lady

Agree hate the term CIS I’m just a man not cis man. If people can demand correct pronouns being used then we should be able to demand not to be called CIS "

In the context of discussing trans people, it's a way to distinguish between trans people and not trans people. No one used it about you specifically, it's just a category.

And yes, pronouns (a choice) and a factual category (not a choice) are entirely the same.

"A female is a person that can carry children during pregnancy a female has ovaries, (Eggs) a womb, Fallopian tubes, a Uterus, and ovulation, the hormone estrogen.

a man that has altered the external part of his body to look like a woman "I hate this term trans woman" does not have any of those he is not a woman he is a MAN and produces testosterone.

I guess this post is talking about that subject.

Erm I don’t have a womb, fallopian tubes or a uterus (you know womb and uterus are the same thing, right?) what does that make me? I’ve no penis or testicles either! Am I even real?

were you born with these things listed? If yes you are a woman.

I have a friend who was born without a womb. Birth defect.

I'll have to inform her she's not a woman. She'll be devastated."

Will I no longer be a woman after my hysterectomy?! Crumbs

The male entitlement is from men in dresses, they are men. Trans is not a new sex, there are two & gender is an invention to appease them.

"Goddam it"?

Modern groups or ancient groups can't change the facts of biology, there are men or women.

Men can pretend to be women & vice versa but it's is a pretence pure & simply that.

There is no argument on those facts but plenty are deluding themselves.

Yes the 1 in 500-1000 diagnosed with this condition should be included. Adapting to new science is vital but I agree protecting biological women’s rights are far more important than individual freedom of expression

Ok

But I mean, the anti trans arguments rely on these anecdotes rather than existing widespread harms, so I'm not exactly taken by "one person did this, therefore".

If the aim is protecting people, then why not focus on where evidence exists of widespread harm being caused? Which, I'll remind everyone, is cis men?

If all trans people can be demonised because one or two trans people did something, why can't we protect ourselves from the threat of thousands of documented cases in cis men (or people who live as men who have M on their birth certificate, if correct language offends you)?

Fuck the popcorn let’s dive in

A woman - biologically female , soft curves and sexy breasts - any size or shape , there is no discerning judgement on boobs on someone meant to have them

The “ women “ with hairy backs and 5” penises are men with issues

Some may resolve the issues with therapy

Some may resolve them with extreme surgery

Some may deliberately not resolve them Because they think it makes them special to be afflicted

And some don’t have the issues but are jumping on the latest social justice bandwagon

But what they are not is our beloved

Vagina carrying women

And to assert they are discredits and marginalises ACTUAL women

There is no trans hate here

I sincerely hope those with issues find a solution that’s right for them and those playing a game stop

But fighting for woman’s rights , women’s spaces women’s clubs and sports and then men decide they want in and try and game the system is a fucking disgrace

"I've never needed to define a woman to myself or others, why do we need to do it now, what's changed?

Quite a few things E.g sports, (biological) women’s only spaces

The definition of a woman hasn't changed though?

Then what is the definition?"

It will be in the dictionary or medical journals, our science bods are very good, they've being doing this stuff for centuries. I believe in science

Trans woman here of some 15 years

Quite happy using term trans woman over woman when talking to people that ask / need to know, though all my legal markers are female

Can’t say I really come across agro / issues in day to life / travelling / working for over a decade now …

These threads are always entertaining

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

From Monday to Sunday, she works harder than you know.

I mean, she's no classy lady, but she needs a little love to make her strong.

Hope that helps.

Sounds about right to me.

If you’re going off dictionary definitions you therefore have to agree this is also correct (Cambridge dictionary):

“an adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth”

An adult biological female.

Identify how you wish, do whatever you want to your body. Live the life you want. I wish all of you happiness

But biology cannot be argued.

Watch "What is a woman" on Netflix.

See how the "Academics" in this field are unable to define what it is.

I identify as me. I am male biologically. That doesn't define my sexuality or my place in society.

But it gives a big enough guideline so that people can make certain assumptions. I don't take these assumptions as stereotypes but a general guide to interaction.

As for the "They" bollocks...

So one dictionary conflicts with another, so rule out dictionaries they can't be trusted! How did that happen!

This subject always seems to go the same way. People are trying to explain their side but are responded to by trans lobbyists with insults, lies, half-truths and nonsense posts deliberately trying to fill the thread until it reaches capacity. Bullying has never been a good basis for honest discussion.

Typically, women inherit a pair of X chromosomes, one from each parent, and are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. More generally, sex differentiation of the female fetus is governed by the lack of a present, or functioning, SRY-gene on either one of the respective sex chromosomes.[4] Female anatomy is distinguished from male anatomy by the female reproductive system, which includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, and vulva. An adult woman generally has a wider pelvis, broader hips, and larger breasts than an adult man. Women have significantly less facial and other body hair, have a higher body fat composition, and are on average shorter and less muscular than men.

I'd really love a pair of woman's well worn wet knickers to smell.

I definitely wouldn't ever want knickers from someone that was born male.

It doesn't matter how they identify now, their knickers will never smell the same, and its my preference.
