There's a story this morning that "fewer than five babies have been born" that have been genetically modified. What are people's thoughts?

I think it's something we don't know enough about. Although Crispr is cool technology which I've used (on cells not people or anything). It's unknown what damage it does to DNA in the long term. Would that damage lead to consequences to their offspring?

I understand why people want to prevent serious diseases but I'm not entirely sure if this is the best method to go about it.

Fewer than five might be zero. "

There's been a baby born in the UK, that has the DNA of 3 people.

It's to prevent mitochondrial diseases. Which are an organelle (the power house of the cell, it creates energy), however although the nucleus contains the vast majority of DNA, the mitochondria have their own. So the parents have used the mitochondrial DNA of a donor to prevent this horrible disease that the mother carries.
