Google doesn't have a straight answer.... so i'm going to go with the general consensus of you guys..

Is there a distinction between Friends with benefits and Fuck buddies?

I have been using them interchangeably but actually I do think there is a distinction.

For me a FWB is a friend who you will talk to about your life and what's going on, maybe you'll hang out before or after the sex and maybe one day you'll stop fucking but stay friends.

A FB is a repeated hook up, someone you respect and enjoy but who you really don't want to have to think about when they aren't naked...

What do you guys think?

Oh and don't get me started on a Sneaky link... this is a new one on me! Lol.....

Is that one just for people who are cheating?

Yes those are pretty much my definitions, a fwb is a friend first who you want to do non sex stuff with but the sex is a bonus and hopefully if the sex stops the friendship doesn’t, whereas a fb one that you really only see if sex is going to happen even though you might do other stuff together on the same day, but if the sex stopped then you wouldn’t see them otherwise

You've pretty much answered your own question in my opinion.

Friends with benefits is a friend 1st, but you have a mutual attraction and understanding of where things are so you can also be sexual with, without the worry of things becoming weird or too complicated unless both people then decide to turn it into more.

Fuck buddies are more of a person you know you have a sexual connection with and you have respect for, but you mainly just hook up for sex without the need for all the usual niceties around it.

Sneaky link in my understanding is meeting someone who should really be off limits.

It’s where you know someone through a common situation and you’re ‘in the same boat’ but maybe not involved emotionally or physically with each other but understand where each other is coming from. And chat/support based on that.

I absolutely see a fwb as someone you are actually friends with. The last time I had this we were seeing each other regularly for 7 months, messaged, spoke about life and just what was going on in our own lives and families etc. I think building some kind of connection helps make the sex even better. FB is a kinda as and when, straight down to fun without any of the life stuff, can still have great sex which gets better the more you meet too. Both are good in different ways and for me have suited different periods of my life.

Acquaintance - someone I am familiar with meh usually a work thing.

Friend - someone I have a connection with and intimacy but not sexual.

FB - acquaintance that I have sex with (not into that)

FWB - A friend I have sex with same commitment as a friend but we have sex.

Partner - intimacy, sex and commitment (lives are shared to some degree)

I don't need any other labels and those ones are only for other people's convenience.

I spend time with people I feel a connection with and we have sex if we want to. Sometimes we want to do it a lot and we may even build a nest together.

I wonder if guys do in general describe it differently.

Pre pandemic I saw someone for three years and described her as my FWB but only because she would have been horrified at being called a FB. Yet other than chat and have sex, we never did anything socially and we never were known by each others circle of friends. So clearly in my view a FB and not a FWB, but she'd see it the other way round.

FB : you use him and he uses you as a commodity

FWB : you sort of have a friendship and sex with him without having a full relationship.

At the end of the day, there are the same as you don’t want a relationship with any of them.

I started off I guess with a FB it then developed into a FWB relationship

It's now a lot more than that

Were both still free spirited we both have our singles profiles as well as our couples profile

For us it's the perfect relationship.
